Meet Kourt Passero

We recently connected with Kourt Passero and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kourt , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
This question comes just at the right time! I have been talking about believing in your vision/purpose in all of my yoga classes and speaking engagements this week. I have been on a very deep healing and spiritual journey for the past three years. This journey has taught me two main things… how to love myself and how to truly be my authentic self. Having been through sexual abuse and rape both of those were taken away from me for a long time. My abuse taught me that I wasn’t good enough and it wasn’t safe to love myself. My healing has taught me that I am good enough and it’s safe to be my authentic self and show it to the world. Through my healing I discovered that my purpose is to serve people through yoga,  public speaking/advocating, and influencing in an authentic way. I am very passionate about helping advocate for women who have been through sexual abuse or are currently facing it, giving them hope that there is healing and freedom. Also, I am passionate about helping my students truly learn how to find their true authentic selves and be confident in sharing it with the world. God has blessed with me so many amazing people who have helped me find the courage and bravery to heal from my abuse, that to share my powerful story with the world was my promise to god. I told him that if he gave me the resources to heal that I would go out and share my story with the world and hopefully help people heal and find their authentic selves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am so excited to connect with you all! Thank you for taking the time to read my story. At the core, I am an authentic and strong  businesswoman. I am a certified 200 RYT yoga teacher, influencer, and dynamic public speaker hailing from New York, now residing in South Florida since 2020. With a strong background in fashion and design, I am a fierce leader and a true embodiment of authenticity. My yoga classes feature inspiring vinyasa flows that emphasize breathwork and spiritual strength, infused with personal dharmas from my own healing journey. They are truly a fun and authentic vibe. My teaching style is uniquely authentic, often adorned with some of my  favorite hats or headscarves, creating an inclusive and nurturing environment for students to embrace their true selves and gain confidence.I teach regularly at South Florida studios, schools, and events. My home studio is Mimi Yoga, where I currently teach two vinyasa classes per week. Additionally, I am part of Mimi Yoga’s 200-Hour Teacher Training Program as a mentor to the teacher trainees helping develop them into authentic and confident leaders/teachers.Beyond yoga, I am an authentic influencer with partnerships across the fashion, wellness, fitness, and beauty industries.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Love this question so much! The three qualities that have helped me thus far on my journey are authenticity, confidence, and faith. Being authentic is easier said than done but I believe that by being authentic the right doors/opportunities will open. Any time I am speaking to someone about a new potential opportunity I bring my authentic self to the meeting, interview, or audition. I have three core non negotiables that I am not willing to compromise on when working with any company, studio, publication, etc. It’s very important to realize your worth and truly believe in yourself throughout the journey. Confidence is essential in order to be successful. The more you believe in yourself and vision the more confident you will be. When you radiate confidence it becomes inspiring and contagious towards others. I am a very non traditional yoga teacher which has presented many obstacles and challenges but I have believed in my vision since day one and continue to believe in it. Thank you to all my amazing students and community that continue to support my vision. I love you all so much. Faith is essential… I often say that I wouldn’t have made it past month one if it weren’t for my faith. My faith is at the core of every business decision I make. I always pray and ask god to led me in the direction that he wants me to go. Put your faith at the center of your business and journey as it will be your guide through good and challenging times.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Without hesitation my faith(god) has been the most helpful in overcoming challenges and obstacles. God is the reason I am living and walking in my purpose, none of this would be possible without him. Every time I am going through a challenge the first thing I do is pray and ask god for help. I often ask this question to people I speak with… what does your faith look like? For me the answer to this question is a good indication of how you will deal with challenges and obstacles while overcoming them.
