Meet KP Smith

We were lucky to catch up with KP Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.

KP, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being the Only One in the Room: How Bodistry Evolved Into a Holistic Wellness Brand

At its core, Bodistry has always been about the ongoing evolution of self—teaching the body to perform at its optimal level while restoring balance and harmony. What started as a yoga mat line, crafted from eco-friendly and ethical materials, has now evolved into a full holistic wellness brand. Our mission is simple: to help the body realign through movement, nourishment, and mindfulness.

One of the most powerful ways we support this is through juicing. I created my first 30-Day Juice Detox Ebook to help reduce inflammation, detoxify the body, and naturally support weight loss. When inflammation is lowered, the body begins to feel lighter, joints move more freely, and energy flows with greater ease. This freedom in the body creates more space for stillness of the mind—allowing for deeper meditation and greater focus. For those struggling with obesity, I also offer individual juice coaching, giving step-by-step support to rebuild health through natural, nutrient-rich juices.

Bodistry is more than products—it’s a movement rooted in quality, community, and body positivity. Whether you’re using our eco-conscious mats, following our juice detox program, or joining us on YouTube for online classes, the goal is the same: to create balance, confidence, and harmony in your journey.

I know what it feels like to be the only one in the room who looks different. But instead of shrinking, I’ve chosen to expand—just as Bodistry has. From mats, to juices, to online teachings, Bodistry exists to support every body in its evolution.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Here is my story on how Bodistry evolved from a yoga mat line to a wellness brand. Two years ago I received some disturbing blood work from my annual exam. I was borderline in several areas including: diabetes, morbid obesity, hypertension, and A1C. I also could barely walk due to the inflammation in my left knee. I did not want to resort to medication so I immediately began looking into alternative methods. I committed myself to daily movement and I bought a juicer and began my juicing journey.

Now not only have I reversed everything from the previous test results, I lost over 60 pounds. I was hooked and I did it without medication or fancy diets. Just a juicer and fruits and vegetables. I also noticed my sleep was better and overall mood was improved.

I hold a Masters in Health and Kinesiology from University of Texas and with that I discovered the effects food and daily movement really have on the body. I really believe what we put in our body effects everything including our behaviors. With that I have decided to further my education. I am currently in school to be a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst. There is a huge demand for this role especially in the Autism community. I am excited to bring my passion and knowledge to this field.

What’s exciting about Bodistry is the integration of multiple wellness practices into one brand. For example, I launched my 30-Day Juice Detox Ebook last year on Amazon and Etsy, designed to support weight loss, detoxify the body, and boost energy. Alongside this, I offer individual juice coaching , helping people take a personalized approach to improving their health. Combined with our online yoga and wellness classes on YouTube, Bodistry now offers a full spectrum of tools for holistic transformation.

What I love most is creating products and programs that allow people to feel confident, supported, and inspired—even when they’re stepping into spaces or practices that are new to them. Free online yoga classes are Sundays on Youtube at The Bodistry Experience.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities and skills in my journey have been resilience, curiosity, and intentionality.

Resilience has been crucial—whether it was refining yoga mats over years, stepping into rooms where I was the only one who looked like me, or launching new wellness programs like my 30-Day Juice Detox Ebook. Challenges are inevitable, but staying persistent and learning from every setback has allowed Bodistry to evolve from a mat line into a full holistic brand.

Curiosity kept me exploring and experimenting. I spent years researching what truly supports the body, testing different materials, movement techniques, and nutrition practices. This curiosity led to creating individualized juice coaching for obesity and developing programs that help people reduce inflammation and move more freely.

Intentionality ties it all together. Every product, class, or program we launch is purposefully designed to support both the body and mind. Being intentional about what you put into your brand—and into your own wellness—ensures that your offerings resonate deeply with your audience.

Advice for those early in their journey:

1. Build resilience by embracing failures as learning opportunities.
2. Stay curious—experiment, test, and never stop learning about your craft or niche.
3. Be intentional in your actions, decisions, and messaging; clarity and purpose always shine through.

If you cultivate these three areas, you’ll find the confidence and foundation needed to grow personally and professionally.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The book that has play the most important role in my development is the Bible. From there I built a foundation on where to go for support, wisdom, clarity, direction, reassurance, and so much more.

I learned the importance of being consistent through adversity. I learned discipline and perseverance. I also learned I do not need to be on social media a lot because it can be a distraction. Overall the bible gave me peace and clarity.
