Meet Kramer Eggemeyer

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kramer Eggemeyer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kramer, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Confidence and self-esteem come from throwing yourself out there. Growing up, I was generally class clown however I was always extremely nervous to talk in front of small groups/people but I love to make people laugh. I didn’t start to become extroverted until I started personal training. Personal training is a great career or even a stepping stone into sales. You have client acquisition, retention, sales, and service that you have to deal with. Gives you a great perspective on business as a whole from the service perspective. Years of trial and error, have made me who I am today. I succeed off my failures which has ultimately made me more confident. You can not be scared to look like an *d**t if you want to be successful

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the owner of Ready Fitness Training here in Saint Louis. I’ve worked in Beverly Hills, Dallas, and small-town Illinois in gym management and personal training. I started off with my brother owning his own gyms, and learning under his wing. Now I have my own with a structure that’ll absolutely flip the gym industry on its head. If you haven’t heard of us before, just remember this writing for now.

We take on anything and everything that is health and wellness, what separates us is we PAY our coaches. The gym industry is fraudulent in not paying their coaches what they’re worth. Charging $100 an hour and maybe getting 30-40% of that, who the hell wants a fraction of what they’re worth? We also provide marketing to coaches in order to get their name out there. We offer 1:1, group training, physical therapy, chiro, meal pre, yoga, Pilates, and soon meal prep! Clients have their choice on paying for what they want! Not some tier package that MIGHT have what they want in it. It’s fully customized for the client. Better yet, everything is month to month! No contracts. We strive on service, we’re not a corporate gym that just loves numbers at the end of the month. We can have 100 locations, we will never change our structure or way of thinking. Service is king

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The list for important qualities is infinite! Ambition/self-reliance, sharpness, and opportunism can take you where you want to go in life as long as you’re calculated.

Ambition/self-reliance: It is extremely selfish to not build the best life for yourself. No matter the news of the day, you should be driven to strive for improvement in one form or another. If you can depend on yourself, you’re covered. Without relentless ambition for what you truly want, what purpose do you really have?

Sharpness: Look at people’s deeds, not words. In the business world, intentions are not exactly relevant. There’s always a devil in a dress so you should always be extremely realistic with who you conduct with. Observe peoples actions carefully then assess.

Opportunism: Turn sh*t into sugar
Opportunities are always present whether it be a COVID outbreak or you hit the lottery. No matter the situation, you should be able to seek a positive outcome. Scarcity can often turn to abundance. Having your back against the wall with very little to your name can become your best friend, you have to become creative hence “sh*t into sugar”. I’ve been in this spot several of times whether it be financially, mentally, or whatever this wonderful life tends to serve you at the time being. Make the best of your circumstances

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

Go all in on your strengths 100%. There is reasonable arguments into trying to work on yourself, however you need personnel that can cover your weaknesses. RFT as a whole may be under the brains of my business partner and I, but we are a team. We have different key pieces (strengths) that everyone possesses, leave it to someone else that has a strength in your weakness. I am 100% for being a better person overall and overcoming any weakness you may have. However from a business perspective, swallow your pride and find someone who is an expert in your areas of lacking. This will grow you exponentially versus taking the time to focus on whatever you suck at
