We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Krista Morehead a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Krista, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I developed my work ethic from growing up in a large family as the second of six siblings. I watched my parents work tirelessly to provide for us. My mom, in particular, has owned and managed businesses on and off for years and has shown me what entrepreneurship looks like. Being one of the older siblings, I’ve naturally taken on a leadership role, and my younger siblings look up to me, so I’ve always felt a responsibility to set a strong example. I’m also driven by a desire to be financially independent and stable on my own, regardless of societal norms that suggest women need to rely on a man. That motivation, along with my family’s influence, continues to shape my drive and determination.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My brand, Krista M Notary Public, is all about professionalism, reliability, and trust. I’ve built a reputation for being efficient, detail-oriented, and client-focused. Whether handling general notary work or real estate closings, I prioritize accuracy, clear communication, and convenience for my clients. As a mobile notary, I bring services directly to people, making the process smooth and accessible. My brand also reflects my values—integrity, independence, and community. I strive to not only provide excellent service but also to make sure clients feel confident and respected throughout every transaction.
Being a Notary is More Than Just a Signature.
It’s about trust. It’s about helping people during some of the most important moments in their lives—buying a home, starting a business, preparing for the future.
Every signature tells a story, and I’m proud to be a part of many clients that I have helped.
If you need a notary who cares, I’m here to help.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, strong communication, and self-motivation.
Adaptability helped me transition across different environments—from nonprofit and political organizing to business office settings and entrepreneurship. Being open to change and learning new skills has allowed me to grow in unexpected ways and stay relevant.
Strong communication has been key (cliche I know) in every role I’ve held. Whether interacting with clients, coworkers, or vendors, the ability to listen actively and build trust has set me apart.
Self-motivation has been a major driver, especially as a business owner. Having the discipline to manage my time, set goals, and push through challenges has kept me moving forward.
Advice for others:
Set small, consistent goals to strengthen your motivation and build momentum. You won’t always feel ready, but taking action is often the best teacher.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
One book that has played a significant role in my personal and professional development is the Bible. It’s given me guidance, strength, and perspective throughout my journey.
“To whom much is given, much will be required” (Luke 12:48) – This reminds me to use my gifts and opportunities responsibly and to serve others with integrity.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5-6) – This has helped me remain grounded during uncertain times and trust the process, even when things don’t go according to plan.
The Bible has shaped my values, strengthened my work ethic, and continues to guide how I treat others and show up in both life and business.
