Meet Kristen Poe

We were lucky to catch up with Kristen Poe recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kristen, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose has been one of the most challenging and difficult but rewarding journeys life has taken me on so far. For some people, they experience a calling and yearning early on as to where they are supposed to be, and what they are supposed to be doing. For me, my calling was not clear cut, and took traveling and divulging down different paths to figure out where I was supposed to be. My dad is a doctor, and has always been my biggest role model. I always had a hunch that I may have wanted to be a doctor, but it was not a clear cut path, and I had other career paths in mind as well. By my senior year of college, I thought I wanted to be a psychologist, but life took me in a different direction. I landed an amazing internship with a global pharmaceutical company that led to an almost 7 year career in sales and marketing.
I earned an MBA, traveled often, gained a lot of experience, and even became the #1 sales consultant in the nation. However, I felt unfulfilled and continuously questioned my purpose. On a personal level, I was at a low point, going through a difficult relationship and simply not taking good care of myself. This led to a serious look in my mirror and a time of self-reflection. I realized first and foremost, I needed to start taking care of myself and my health. I started eating better, exercising, drinking more water, minimizing alcohol, developing better sleep habits, and spending time with positive and uplifting people. Through my health journey, I was introduced to the fitness industry, and started working with a professional coach and fitness competing. Fitness competitions challenged me physically and mentally in a way I had never experienced before. This was the catalyst that unlocked my purpose. I was so blown away that through committed health nutrition, sleep habits, water intake, and exercising, I could achieve a physique I had never imagined. More than that, both physically and mentally, I felt the best I had in years. I realized that lifestyle medicine was very underestimated, and that it was the place I wanted to be. I made the decision and commitment to invest my time and energy studying functional/lifestyle, and Naprapathic medicine , and began my 9 year journey. I now know that my purpose and calling is to help as many people as I can optimize their health and wellness, meet them where they are in life, and help them level up.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

First and foremost, follow your dreams and passions, and start a business in something you feel excited and passionate about everyday. I believe Three things that lead to success are always exuding honesty, kindness and respect no matter what business you go into. Remaining open minded and versatile is also crucial. We live in a fast-paced world with evolving technology, so remaining open minded to processes and things that can be more efficient and beneficial to growing your business is very important. Lastly, making connections with positive mentors and entrepreneurs that can give you positive advice and support is so important in all steps of starting, running and growing any business. You will never go wrong being kind, honest and respectful of others, no matter what the situation may be. Humility is so important as well. I try to be as open-minded and versatile as possible, and am willing to go out of my comfort zone to make changes and do things differently if it is in the best interest of my patients and practice. Lastly, always be willing to learn.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

The hardest thing is balance! As a mom of 3, finding work life balance is of paramount importance to me. This is one of the reasons I opened my own practice was for the availability to adjust my schedule to be able to be there for my children whenever they need me. It is also challenging being both the provider and Business owner/CEO. There is always something to do, and I am nearly always working. There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done sometimes. My practice continues to grow and get busier and more demanding, as do the schedules and needs of my family. Being able to take a step back and refocus and prioritize can pose challenges.
