We were lucky to catch up with Kristen Thomasino recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
From a young age, my parents instilled in me the importance of a strong work ethic. They encouraged my brothers and me to value education and pursue our career passions. Having such positive role models has dramatically influenced my perspective on achievement. Additionally, my grandparents on both sides of my family taught us the value of hard work and encouraged us to pursue our dreams. I vividly remember my mother’s father, a dentist, talking to us about the Ladders of Success and challenging us to be winners instead of quitters. He taught us that success requires mental grit and perseverance. As I’ve grown older, my involvement in social good missions has reinforced my determination to work towards a more peaceful, loving, healthy, and prosperous world, requiring me to transform in many ways to achieve my goals. When I experienced suffering and decline for a time in my body due to an unexpected accident falling down 15 feet of stairs and severe Fibromyalgia with Brain Fog, these teachings of work ethic and achievement were critical for me as I had to rebuild my strength, stamina, and mental capabilities. After those unexpected events over many years, I had to rebuild my professional skills to be where I am today. I did the work and created two organizations, 2 Shows available on 20+ networks, 22 publications, the Social Good Conferences, the Social Good News, the Social Good Movement Tour, five think tanks, ten websites, multiple networks, three market studies, and a Buddytown resource center available on Apple and Android.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Social Good is the focus of my brand. Social Good is an exciting opportunity because everyone can get involved in it. When you think about it, Social Good is about how we all can engage to maintain and improve our world. The Social Good Movement is something I am passionate about spreading through the world as a way to unify communities. Global trade is imperative to our success in humanity. Safety and security with good nutrition are essential for everybody. Concepts like education about health and wellness, along with financial understanding, are how we can empower today’s people and future generations.
The social good series project I created was The Social Good Magazine and The Social Good Magazine Show to tell stories about individuals leading remarkable lives for Social Good that people could view as examples in different spaces.
The Social Good Magazine is a beacon of hope for global communities, filled with inspiring stories illuminating success pathways. By sharing transformational concepts and taking action-oriented steps towards progress, we can collaborate on reducing suffering together—enjoying the journey along the way! Use this magazine and show as our roadmap: an opportunity to guide each other in discovering victory over adversity.
As a data scientist, I also created three market studies to understand and motivate others to take action to create positive outcomes. The market studies are related to The Social Good Experiment and The Social Good Games. These were designed to bring insights into how we live our daily lives, military veterans’ access to goods and services, and a program for teachers, youth, and parents to influence sending a smile to others in your community.
Recently, I launched The Social Good Movement Tour, a joint venture with Platinum Star Public Relations CEO Marie Y. Lemelle, to address Gen Z with a platform where they can discuss issues that are happening and be part of the solution. The mission is to provide an immersive and transformative experience that sparks a passion for addressing current events and connecting with the knowledge and skills to create meaningful change. The experience offers interactive workshops, thought-provoking discussions, and hands-on experiences that cultivate critical thinking, empathy, and leadership skills. The show hosts are dedicated to inclusivity and diversity and welcome participants to explore and engage with various societal issues.
For our adults and professionals, I created the Social Good Conferences. The Social Good Conferences have been designed to be a forum for sharing examples of Social Good to discuss current events and provide points of view from professionals from various industries. The Social Good Conferences are an opportunity for people to use their energy and time in productive and not destructive ways. It’s time to get people off the streets. We can all work together in many ways to move the discussion forward to reality. I know that everyone can suffer. That influences me, after years of personal struggle with injury and illness, to encourage people who are ready emotionally to take action for change to do so with the existing teams that are in place. If you aren’t sure how to engage, these conferences are perfect for you to get inspired and get into networks with people with a track record of achievement. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The skills that have been most impactful for me on my journey building my entities have been developing my abilities to write and articulate complex ideas in various ways, agile development paired with data science to create in highly unknown and new markets, and the people skills to partner with others to collaborate on social good projects.
I developed these skills throughout my life. First, starting with journaling frequently as a child and later learning various techniques for sharing ideas and concepts. The second came when I worked with AvidXchange. I was the first ever scrum master in the organization and learned the Agile Development methodology. This was critical as we built one of the world’s largest business-to-business electronic payment networks. I adapted that methodology to going after customers and new markets. Later, I applied those principles in my two new ventures by designing new services and goods for my target customers. Creating my media organization, I had to develop a way to differentiate my content and the services we can provide to help amplify others’ messages for social good. I study weekly what’s happening on all kinds of providers sharing content on important topics with the world. I had to be nimble with how people respond to content today and adapt. I created an application that serves as a resource center called Buddytown, which is available on Apple and Android devices. Utilizing my people skills to partner with others allowed us to unite to share their message worldwide.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
The Social Good Movement will amplify the community of practitioners unifying together under this platform to raise the vibe in the world. The good news is we need people to participate in our publications, like the next volume of The Social Good Magazine (www.socialgoodmagazine.com) or be in the next season of The Social Good Magazine Show. Send in your shorter story to be featured in The Social Good News or be a speaker at The Social Good Conferences, www.socialgoodconferences.com. We have opportunities to join the Buddytown Network and advertise your organization in our application Buddytown in many ways. If you are interested in helping Gen Z, connect with my team and book us to come out to your educational facility for 2024. As you can see, there are many ways to connect and get involved with the Social Good Movement, visit the website, www.socialgoodmovement.com and see what the right fit is for you.
