Meet Kristen Thomasino

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristen Thomasino a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kristen, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

My life experiences included suffering through periods of extreme pain with Fibromyalgia and the impacts of an unexpected accident falling down 15 feet of stairs had on my muscular form and nervous system. My studies of trying to find ways to reduce my pain over the years led me to uncover some remarkable people who were very kind to me and taught me many lessons. I learned that everyone can suffer and eventually one day die. These experiences drove me to start The Social Good Movement. The world has continued to be in great peril. Even with the technological advancements of today, we still have strife. That suffering is something that I believe can be reduced if we unify together under the umbrella of innovation, knowledge, and compromise. The good news about social good is that it’s for everybody. Everybody in humanity can win when we focus on social good.

This year was the 80th anniversary of D-Day. My grandfather, Vincent Thomasino, a drafted member of the Army Infantry, was sent to the beaches of Normandy in France to fight on D-Day +5 as a machine gunner. Being a D-Day Descendant, it’s essential to take action for peace, love, health, and prosperity after learning of the events that happened there and what was happening in Europe that prompted the call for these soldiers to come and stop evil from spreading.

The Social Good Movement is something that I think is necessary for our present and future. We need people to learn how to win together, find compromise, and look at one another as human beings. The way to bring down the division in our world is to raise the level of love in the world. Everyone benefits when we can create safe spaces and be stewards of our communities. How can we stop today’s negativity? By being the peace, love, health, and prosperity we seek. Yes, we must share truths of things we wish to work on peacefully and productively to create positive outcomes.

This is possible when we work to empower one another. When we can learn history lessons in ways that do not continue to retraumatize ourselves, we have genuinely begun liberating ourselves from great suffering. The application of various practices day in and day out allows us to experience growth within ourselves. By being strong within oneself, we can be empowered to help those seeking guidance in the future. I’ve been able to canvas various communities looking for these examples of social good. The good news is that this leadership is here, living as productive members of our communities and walking with love to help others in their communities.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I love to train. I push myself to see how far I can grow. Sometimes, those lessons can be painful. Hard. Difficult to achieve. I keep trying. I learned to keep trying when I had to overcome unexpected events and rebuild my strength for many years. Today, I still train daily. I am aware. I am not perfect. I eat junk food here and there. I love french fries and other treats. That’s how they have to be treated. It is something once in a while because the most important thing to me after my experiences of losing my physical strength for long periods is just how important it is to train every day. To be grounded. To meditate. The world will continue to rage at times. Right now, it seems many people are choosing to rage in the streets, creating chaos. I don’t want to be part of the chaos; I want to be part of the social good in the world. Be the peace. I want to be a catalyst—a connector. I will not always understand everybody, and they won’t understand me. That’s ok. We have to keep moving as peaceful human beings beside one another. Sometimes apart from others too at times. That’s okay because I learned that many communities exist in our world. We can be open, search, and seek out those who believe in peace, love, health, and prosperity that will guide our world to create more positive experiences and stewardship of the world.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Building this Social Good Movement, www.socialgoodmovement.com has required the ability to network with many communities, listen to their feedback and way of life, and understand that there are many ways we are different, but also, in the end, we are all humans. Everyone can suffer. So why not be the peace? Sometimes, that means just walking away. Or disengaging when we cannot be positive because the pain we feel is so great. It’s been finding people who have made it their mission to help others win. Growing this network during the last few years was challenging; however, it’s possible, and we did it. Now, we keep growing every week. People from all over the world keep joining Buddytown and watching “The Social Good Conferences.” They get exposed to these remarkable individuals from all over and here in rapid sessions, available on YouTube, why they are who they are. The passion they feel. Why do they do the mission they do? Get inspired. Stay positive by connecting with our community! They are just phenomenal. Like me, they make a point to develop themselves every day. They do acts of self-love. They invest in their communities. They love to travel and experience new events. This is what the Social Good Movement is all about.
