Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristi Eaton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kristi, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I think my resilience comes not from just within myself but from those around me. I have close friends and family who support me in many facets of my life, not just my work life, who are always ready and willing to help me out. That resilience from them spills over into my internal reserves and helps me to persevere through work challenges.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I started ke comms, a mission-driven public relations + writing agency in 2023. I had consulted for various public relations agencies for several years and wanted to have the opportunity to go out on my own. After researching the field, I found my niche in social good organizations and causes. I love getting press for people hoping to change the landscape around us in the world. Getting press for a client helps amplify their work in a positive manner.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I spent many years in journalism before transitioning to public relations. Journalism helped me learn to ask questions, research and observe, all of which are great skills to have no matter what field you are interested in pursuing. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, seek mentorship and email people randomly to say you like and appreciate what they are doing.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I just read the book “Company of One,” and it’s about the fact that growth doesn’t need to be the most important factor for a business. Instead, maybe it’s having more time to pursue your passions or spending time with friends and family. As an owner of a small business, I learned a lot and will take many of the lessons to heart.
