Meet Kristiann Colasacco

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristiann Colasacco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kristiann, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?

I work in a very Male dominated industry in Construction and now Real Estate where there are many moments that emotions can run high! I myself have had unflattering moments in the past that exploded into having to step back and evaluate why things were not working the way I had hoped or why things resulted as they did and how can I change the course fir my life goals! Stepping back and really taking a deep dive into all of the friendships and relationships in your past and how you contributed to the faulty is where you start to learn how to change the way you communicate! I have worked hard in self healing and refection to speak effectively and communicate in healthier ways and it wasn’t until I was thrown in the center of chaos between a contractor and a client that I had realized how far I have come with my communication skills!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I have been in the design- build industry for 16 years and have owned my business since 2017! Design and Creating has always been my passion and my exclamation point in life! I have always found ways to stay creatively stimulated and ventured into many different small niches aside from my very grounded design business. I went ahead recently and got my real estate license because many times I have found myself aiding my clients in procuring locations for their businesses and helping them restore to resell their homes so the two have always gone hand in hand! I have also always helped my first time business owner clients with developing their branding to launch the business by creating the color palettes, some needed logo assistance and then there is the content creation of the design and build process to get their clientele and consumers ‘excited’ for what is to come! After doing that I have since begun helping others in business by aiding their social media content to help them reintroduce themselves to the world with a fresh face and aesthetic, in story telling ways that’s are unique to their consumers! The designer in me will forever live on and I make sure that my passion is shown through my work getting everyone the results they yearn for! This new what I am calling ‘Creative Agency’ I am embarking on is such a joy for me! I get to see business through the lens of my clients and helping them is so fulfilling for me! I don’t have children yet so I do consider each project as one of my ‘babies’ and when they grow and flourish it makes my heart completely burst open!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most important qualities that have impacted my journey would be Resilience, discipline and a vision! Without those three components you cannot find or drive towards success! Life is always going to throw a curve ball at you and you cannot avoid it, however you can control how you handle it no matter how uncomfortable it may be! That is where your resilience will come from! You cannot approach these situations with high emotions! I have made that mistake in the past and you will end up in a deeper problem than the original, there is always a solution and that is what you must focus on and remember in business! The Discipline is showing up on days you do not want to! It’s putting on a overly dressed outfit to pull yourself out of any mental funk you may be in and watch how things start to align! Your vision is most important, If you cannot close your eyes and envision your future self standing in the room you want to be in you will have a harder time struggling to get there! You must replay that vision in your head over and over until it becomes a reality! I promise it actually works!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

This might be an unpopular opinion or response but every failure I have endured, every difficult client or boss in my life has played a massive role in my development as a business owner and as a woman! Going through different hurdles each have taught me a lesson on how to handle problem solving, my emotions and people in general! You will never make everyone happy no matter what and if you are a ‘people pleaser’ much like who I used to be than you will be emotionally burnt out putting your body in a state of serious survival mode! I made myself very ill physically due to this, I have since learned to ‘ OBSERVE DON’T ABSORB’! By absorbing you are allowing the water to fill the boat and then it sinks!
