Meet Kristin Ballard

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristin Ballard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kristin, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

My Imposter syndrome can be a heavy burden, but I’ve found ways to navigate through it by fostering a positive narrative about myself. First, I acknowledge my feelings—not as undeniable truths but as fleeting sensations. This distinction is crucial; recognizing that feelings aren’t necessarily factual allows me to push through self-doubt.
Second, I’ve committed to breaking the cycle of self-criticism. For too long, I grappled with low self-esteem, but now I’ve decided to embrace my individuality with pride. I remind myself that I am a rockstar, worthy of success and positivity.
Third, I take a step back and practice gratitude. This perspective shift helps me appreciate my journey and accomplishments, validating that I am more than enough.
Fourth, I leverage technology to boost my confidence. I record voice notes filled with affirmations for those tough days when negativity creeps in. Listening to these reminders of my strengths uplifts me and reinforces my self-worth.
Finally, I embrace the challenge. It’s not always easy, but each day presents an opportunity to redefine my self-image. With this optimism, I see everything aligning with the new narrative I’m crafting—one where I thrive and shine.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hello, my name is Kristin Ballard A.K.A Kris G. I am an artist From South Central Los Angeles. It’s been quite a journey. I specialize in embroidery art. I also use acrylic paint, but embroidery art is what I am mastering. I’m very proud of the embroidery art. It is a true “trust the process” type of process. I really began focusing on my art a few years ago. Like many, I found myself with more time on my hands during the pandemic, which was when I really started to dive deep into my artistic endeavors. Shortly after that art became my lifeline when I was diagnosed with cancer. It forced me to stay at home, and during those quieter times, I turned to my art even more. It wasn’t just a way to distract myself; it was a way to truly get to know myself and trust in the creative process. Painting offered me a sense of normalcy and helped me cope with everything that was happening. What I had to experience was very difficult, but it helped me find my purpose. Now being in remission, I feel like I owe myself the opportunity to see how good life can get by betting on myself.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Embracing mistakes in your creative journey is essential for growth and self-discovery. Each misstep offers a unique opportunity to learn more about who you are and the direction you want to take. Rather than fearing failure, view it as a chance to redirect your focus and explore new avenues. Stay curious and open-minded; trying things differently can lead to surprising and rewarding outcomes.

Remember, the people closest to you may not always offer the support you seek. However, outside your immediate circle lies a vast world of individuals who have yet to discover your talent and passion. They will appreciate what you create, even if it feels raw or unpolished to you.

Be kind to yourself throughout this process. Life can be harsh, and it’s easy to be your own worst critic. Cherish the journey—the uncertainty, the experimentation, and yes, even the mistakes. When everything falls into place, the culmination of your efforts transforms into something truly beautiful. So go ahead, bet on yourself! Share your creations with the world and embrace the unpredictability. You may be pleasantly surprised by the positive impact you make and the connections you forge. Enjoy the journey!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

First book is the Bible it has helped in so many was in guiding me through. I also recently read The Artist Way by Julia Cameron. amazing book and helps get those creative vibes going.
