We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristin Irwin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kristin, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My life’s purpose is to be of service to others, and it is rooted in my own journey of self-healing. Through this process, I developed Reiki Sound Meditation as a powerful tool to guide others toward self-acceptance, dissolve limiting beliefs, and cultivate self-compassion. This transformative practice has allowed me to help people release the effects of stress and traumatic experiences to access their inner wisdom and personal power, helping them navigate life with greater clarity, confidence, and peace.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I run Devotion Studio in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, where I offer Reiki Sound Meditation, Holistic Yoga, and private sessions for individuals, couples, and groups. I created this space to serve as a sanctuary for non-denominational spirituality, a place where people can explore their inner worlds without the confines of traditional religion. In our busy, often disconnected lives, we crave community and spiritual connection, yet may not resonate with organized belief systems. At Devotion Studio, Reiki Sound Meditation and private ceremonies facilitate profound transformations, helping individuals reconnect with the “unseen” parts of themselves—without relying on dogma or cultural expectations. All are welcome here.
The conversations that follow a session are always deeply enlightening. Participants frequently share how light and rejuvenated they feel, recounting incredible experiences as they journey through their mind, heart, and spirit. Each story is a testament to the healing power of this work.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I credit my background in medical science, my 20 years as an Atheist, and my rural upbringing for profoundly shaping my personal journey. Trained to be inquisitive and analytical, I learned to approach everything with curiosity, systematically testing ideas rather than accepting them without question. This mindset allowed me to hold my spiritual experiences with an open, discerning eye, rather than blindly following any belief system. As a former Atheist, I understand what it’s like to question everything and gradually rebuild a path to the truth of Universal Love and self-acceptance. Because of this, I can relate to people at any stage of their own journey. Raised on a farm in Quebec, I was taught the value of hard work, cooperation for the common good, and the ability to create something beautiful from very little—lessons that continue to ground and inspire me today.
My best advice is that every journey begins with fully accepting where you are in this moment, without judgment or criticism of your perceived “flaws.” True transformation starts with self-compassion. When we accept ourselves—just as we are—we show ourselves that we are trustworthy, and in turn, our whole being begins to participate in the gradual shift toward the person we wish to become. This process of acceptance lays the foundation for growth.
How would you describe your ideal client?
Devotion Studio’s ideal client is someone who is ready to reconnect with a sense of ease in their body, face life’s challenges with calm, and embrace the understanding that everything they need or desire is already within them, waiting to be recognized. Some clients come seeking relief from stress, preferring to focus on the physical and emotional aspects of their well-being, without delving into the “unseen” forces at play. Others are ready for a deeper, more spiritual experience—one that can profoundly shift their perspective and transform their worldview. Whatever the need, Devotion Studio offers a space for personal growth, healing, and exploration.
