Meet Kristin Vittorini

We were lucky to catch up with Kristin Vittorini recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kristin , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being the only one in the room that looks like me has never been easy, but it has taught me resilience, strength, and the power of owning my voice. As a single mom building Blushing Gypsy Events from the ground up, I often walked into rooms where no one shared my background or experience. Instead of letting that intimidate me, I let it motivate me. I leaned into what made me different — my perspective, my hustle, my creativity — and made it my superpower. I’ve learned to speak with confidence, trust my instincts, and keep showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable. Success for me has come from embracing authenticity, staying grounded in my purpose, and remembering that I belong in every room I step into.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Blushing Gypsy Events was born in 2020 with just $300 and a dream. At the time, I was a single mom determined to build something not just for myself, but for my future. I started with mobile bartending, took every opportunity I could, and said “yes” long before I had it all figured out. I hustled, networked, and poured my entire soul into this business. Over time, we grew from coordination to full-service event planning, and now we’re proud to consult for new and struggling venues all across the country. It hasn’t been an easy road — it’s been full of potholes and growing pains — but every challenge shaped who we are today. My passion for this industry is unshakable, and I love being a part of other entrepreneurs’ journeys to success. That’s what keeps me going.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, relationship-building, and resourcefulness.

Resilience kept me going when things got hard — and they got really hard. As a single mom starting with nothing, there were moments I questioned everything. But I kept showing up, even when I was tired or afraid. That grit is what carried me through.

Relationship-building was huge. This industry is all about people — clients, vendors, venues, and teams. I said yes to coffee meetings, vendor events, networking opportunities — even when they felt out of reach. Those relationships became my biggest supporters and opened doors I never expected.

Resourcefulness helped me stretch every dollar and opportunity. Starting with $300 meant I had to be creative — using what I had, learning as I went, and finding ways to make things work without waiting for the “perfect” setup.

For anyone early in their journey:
Don’t wait until you feel ready. Start where you are, be consistent, and show up. Build real relationships — not just transactions — and stay curious. Watch, learn, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to try, fail, and try again. Growth doesn’t come from playing it safe — it comes from showing up and doing the work, even when the odds feel stacked against you.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The most helpful people in my journey have been other female business owners in the industry who believed in me and embraced the idea of collaboration over competition. These strong, inspiring women didn’t just offer advice — they opened doors, shared resources, and made space at the table for me. Their support helped me grow personally and professionally, and ultimately shaped what Blushing Gypsy Events has become. I truly believe that women supporting women and small businesses lifting each other up have been the most powerful forces in helping me overcome challenges and build lasting success.
