Meet Kristy Angelee

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristy Angelee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kristy , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I believe I was born with resilience. Growing up with five siblings in poverty—four girls to one bed, sharing clothes, and living through conditions that clearly showed we had little—resilience was woven into the fabric of our lives. Despite the challenges like unwanted critters, utilities being shut off, and cars being repossessed, our home was filled with love, faith in Christ, and parents who never told us we were in poverty. So, I didn’t dwell on it.

We didn’t have time for self-pity, and honestly, it wasn’t allowed. Our environment was one where bouncing back from hardship wasn’t just necessary—it was expected. My parents never gave up. My mom learned to sew so we could have clothes, and my dad, a rustic, backwoods entrepreneur, did everything within his power to provide for us with integrity. When the lights went out, we pulled out candles and used a wood heater, making the best of what we had.

Resilience wasn’t something I had to search for or learn—it’s in my DNA. I was born into a home where resilience was the norm, not the exception. Watching my parents, I learned that no matter what pressures came our way, with God’s help, there was always a way forward.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Of course! I am the founder of Kristy Angelee Co. and Ministries, where we empower single moms of color to unlock their full potential. As a speaker, writer, and coach, I equip them with practical tools and a faith-based foundation to overcome challenges and achieve their goals in career, personal development, self-care, and finance. I firmly believe in the greatness within every single mom.

It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness the transformation at conferences, seminars, and workshops where single moms resonate deeply with my message, igniting their dormant inner champions. I see hope restored, vision repaired, and purpose embraced, leading to growth beyond their expectations.

Recently, I had the honor of speaking at the G.R.O.W.T.H Business Conference in Dallas, focusing on success motivation through the power of one profound question: ‘What’s Your I Can?’ This concept is at the heart of my upcoming event, the ‘What’s Your I Can? Experience,’ in Round Rock, TX. This in-person event offers workshops, panels, Q&A sessions, keynotes, and a personalized WYIC plan to guide attendees towards ending 2024 with grace.

I’m also working on a list of seasonal gatherings for single moms to explore their passions, relax, mingle, and embrace their journey. All of this, along with more details about upcoming events, can be found on my website.

If you’re a single mom looking to build stronger relationships and reclaim a life of abundance, I invite you to join us. I’m excited to expand this mission beyond Round Rock, engaging with city councils and organizations to empower elite single moms worldwide.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Great question! For me, three key elements have fueled my journey: drive, desire, and vision.

Drive: Without drive or passion, it’s easy to give up when challenges arise—like having no income for the first two or three years or facing major setbacks. As a single mom and solo entrepreneur, I know firsthand how tough it is to build a business you love, especially when it seems like no one is interested in what you offer. I’ve had those dry seasons where no one was calling me to speak, coach, or sponsor my endeavors. But my drive kept me going, even when defeat was knocking at the door. I’ve learned that just because negativity knocks, I don’t have to answer or let it in.

Desire: My desire to see single moms of color reclaim their lives, transform their stories, and create their own utopia is a powerful motivator. If my desire were simply wealth or fame, it would have fizzled out when those things didn’t come quickly. But my passion is rooted in helping others, which sustains me through tough times.

Vision: I’ve always had a clear vision. Since I was about 7 years old, I’ve seen myself on a stage in front of thousands of women, pouring into them. Over the years, that vision has become clearer, guiding me even when the path wasn’t obvious. I believe you have to see yourself before you see yourself.

When helping others develop or enhance their qualities, skills, and knowledge, I use my WYIC Framework, derived from the question, ‘What’s Your I Can?’ This framework leads them through self-discovery, unlocking hidden potential. For example, the ‘W’ stands for Wonder, encouraging personal and professional exploration. I might ask, ‘What are your business ideas?’—a simple question that can open up a world of possibilities.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes! We are actively seeking partnerships and collaborations with local non-profit organizations, ministries, businesses, and individuals who are passionate about uplifting and supporting underserved communities, especially single moms of color. If you share our commitment and would like to collaborate, we’d love to hear from you! Please reach out to us teamkristyangelee@gmail.com. Let’s work together to make a meaningful impact.
