We were lucky to catch up with Krysta recently and have shared our conversation below.

Krysta, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?

I developed my ability to overcome risk because I don’t just react — I prepare. I’ve been in high-stakes environments from the jump, whether it was launching cannabis businesses in new markets, working with investors, or hosting major events. I assess the situation, calculate the real variables, and trust my instincts backed by experience.

I’ve taken risks that most people would fold under — and I’ve turned them into opportunities by staying adaptable, staying grounded, and never letting fear outrun strategy.

I don’t just take risks to gamble — I take them to grow.

I’m Krysta — aka InsuranceWithKay — and I help people protect what matters, build generational wealth, and stay ready for whatever life throws their way.

I specialize in life insurance (including IULs and estate planning) and commercial insurance for business owners who need the right coverage to grow with confidence. With over a decade in business and branding, I bring a fresh, strategic approach to insurance that’s rooted in real results and real relationships.

What makes this work special to me is seeing people finally feel secure — not just financially, but mentally. When you actually understand your coverage, you move differently. My goal is to make sure families, entrepreneurs, and creators are protected and positioned to win.

Right now, I’m focused on growing my client base, locking in strategic partnerships, and hosting educational sessions that simplify the game — whether you’re protecting your first home, building a brand, or setting up your legacy.

Insurance isn’t just a policy. It’s your playbook — and I’m here to help you run the right plays.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were:

1. Adaptability – This industry, and life in general, moves fast. Being able to pivot, learn quickly, and stay open to new opportunities kept me ahead. I didn’t wait for the perfect setup — I learned to move with what I had and made it work.

2. Strategic Communication – Whether I’m in a boardroom or at an event, the ability to connect with people, read the room, and deliver the right message is key. Building trust and relationships through communication is everything.

3. Execution – Ideas are everywhere, but what really set me apart was being able to follow through. I don’t just plan — I execute, consistently and with intention. That’s where the real results come from.

My advice:
Don’t wait to feel ready. Start where you are, stay hungry to learn, and surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you. Sharpen your communication, stay flexible, and most importantly — be a finisher. That’s how you build something real.
