Meet Krysta Bryars

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Krysta Bryars. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Krysta below.

Krysta, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I have always enjoyed movement. Initially, I loved to run and my interest in movement came from how I can get faster, stronger, better. But with time, even, in high school, I knew I wanted to do something health related because of my interest in athletics. Through observation hours in the Burn and Trauma Unit at University of Iowa, I knew I wanted to be a physical therapist. My goals for individuals have evolved through the years, but my purpose has remained the same. My purpose has been to introduce movement and mobility to change health outcomes. I’ve taught people how to walk after strokes, amputations, brain injuries, cancer, tumor removal, joint replacements, everything. This really reinforced the power of movement and purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’ve been a physical therapist for 16 years, and became increasingly interested in the face, lymphatics, and localized cryotherapy through personal and professional experiences the last few years.. With most things in the medical field, problems need to be an extreme before it’s truly a problem, such as lymphedema, but everything is in a spectrum. I love working to treat the face as a muscle. We hold so much tension in the face, and this all connects to the rest of our body through fascial lines but even how we breathe. Lymphatics are connected with every system of our body and can really be the answer to some unsolved symptoms. CryoWellness Studio exists in the space of clinical, wellness, and aesthetics. Everything is connected and we need to stop silo-ing care.

One of the best things I did was hire someone to help me with branding. It’s relatively a new concept, but I wanted what was in my head and to bring it to life in a beautiful way that was connected and intentional.

Some fun things coming: we just launched a Gua Sha kit with an oil, gua sha, and QR code to teach you how to actually use it, expanding into some online education videos, and hopefully building a wellness airbnb in 2025.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

At 40, I can now understand how certain events, patients, experiences have been put in my life to help shape me as to who I am now. Not everything will make sense as to the why but being patient and letting things come. It will all make sense. In the scope of everything, I’m still pretty early in journey, but it takes a certain amount of tenacity to go from daydreaming to action. The biggest advice I would have is to work on your mindset and the self-chatter to ourselves. Working on my mindset and the willingness for growth has been the most impactful for me.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I make lists but always prioritizing movement. Moving whether it’s running, walking, weights, pilates, always make me feel less anxious and more focused. I prioritize my to-do list as the must complete to the least important and work off of that. I tend to get up earlier in the morning also to take the time to feel more centered.
