Krystal, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

As a makeup artist, confidence and self-esteem have been foundational in both my personal journey and in building KBK Beauty. I developed my confidence through years of practice, pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and staying committed to my vision of helping others feel beautiful. When I first started, I wasn’t always as confident in my craft, but over time, each client I worked with boosted my belief in myself. I learned that confidence isn’t something that happens overnight, it’s a journey. It comes from trusting your abilities, embracing your unique style, and learning from every experience—whether it’s a success or a challenge.

I’ve also realized that confidence and self-esteem go hand-in-hand with self-awareness. Understanding who I am, what I bring to the table, and how I can empower others through makeup artistry has helped me show up authentically in both my business and personal life. When you do what you love, stay passionate, and constantly invest in your growth, confidence naturally follows.

I want my readers to know that no matter where you’re starting from, you have the power to build confidence. It takes time, but trust in your journey, and never be afraid to showcase your unique talents. My experience as a makeup artist has shown me that when you love what you do, it reflects in how you carry yourself and in the way you uplift others.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As the founder and CEO of KBK Beauty, I’ve spent over seven years helping people feel confident and beautiful through makeup artistry. My journey has been all about creating a space where everyone, regardless of their background, can feel empowered and valued. What excites me most about what I do is seeing the transformation—not just on the outside but in the way my clients carry themselves. Makeup, for me, is not just about beauty; it’s about confidence, self-expression, and embracing your unique self.

What sets KBK Beauty apart is our dedication to high-quality products that cater to a diverse range of skin tones and needs. Our mission is to build a safe and inclusive space where everyone feels seen and celebrated. We are passionate about creating makeup products that don’t just enhance beauty but also inspire confidence.

This September, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my newest cosmetic line under KBK Beauty. This line is designed with our community in mind, offering innovative products that blend artistry with everyday wearability. It’s something I’ve been working on for a while, and I’m excited to share it with everyone. I also have several upcoming projects, including expanding our product line and collaborating with other artists to bring more creative content to my audience.

As KBK Beauty continues to grow, I’m focused on maintaining our core mission of uplifting others and providing high-quality, inclusive products. Whether you’re new to makeup or a seasoned pro, there’s something for everyone at KBK Beauty, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey as a makeup artist and entrepreneur are perseverance, adaptability, and a passion for continuous learning.

First, perseverance is key. In this industry, there will be challenges—whether it’s perfecting your craft, building a clientele, or navigating the ups and downs of business. I’ve learned that pushing through tough moments and staying committed to your goals is what separates those who succeed from those who give up too soon. My advice is to stay focused on your vision and keep moving forward, even when it gets hard.

Second, adaptability has been crucial for me. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, from new trends to advancements in products and techniques. Being able to pivot and embrace change has allowed me to grow KBK Beauty and stay relevant. For anyone early in their journey, be open to learning new things and don’t be afraid to experiment with your style. Staying flexible will keep you ahead of the curve.

Finally, having a passion for continuous learning has been vital. Whether it’s mastering a new technique, understanding the business side of things, or staying informed about the latest industry innovations, learning never stops. For aspiring makeup artists or business owners, invest in yourself by attending workshops, seeking mentorship, and constantly working on your craft. Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the better you’ll be at navigating the path to success.

These three qualities have shaped my journey, and for anyone just starting out, I would say—embrace the process, be willing to grow, and never stop learning. Success takes time, but with dedication and an open mind, you can achieve anything you set your heart on.

I’m looking for individuals who are passionate about the beauty industry—not just makeup artists, but anyone who’s involved in beauty, whether it’s hair, skincare, fashion, or wellness. I believe there’s so much power in coming together and sharing our unique talents to create something even more impactful.
