Meet Kush K

We were lucky to catch up with Kush K recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kush , first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is real. I used to question if I was good enough and if I even deserved to be in the industry. But at some point, I had to remind myself why I started in the first place – because I love music, because I have a story to tell, and because no one else can do it the way I can.

I also realised that doubt is something every artist deals with, no matter how big they get. The trick is to keep going, keep learning, and let the work do the talking. I stopped comparing myself to others and started focusing on my own growth. Now, whenever that self-doubt creeps in, I remind myself: I’m here for a reason, and I’m exactly where I need to be.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a rapper and artist from Melbourne, and my focus is on making music that connects with people. I released my debut album, The Revelations, and it was a huge moment for me. That project is everything I wanted it to be: raw energy, real storytelling, and straight-up passion. It features collabs with artists like Shivi B and WLZ, with production from some insanely talented YouTube producers.

After The Revelations, I dropped my EP, Calm B4 The Storm, which gave people a taste of what’s next. What excites me most about my music is how it makes people feel, whether it’s motivation, nostalgia, or just that energy to chase their dreams. My sound is a reflection of my journey, the highs, the struggles, all of it.

Right now, I’m already working on new music and planning live shows to bring my sound to more people. This is just the beginning.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three things really made a difference in my journey:

Resilience – The music industry will test you. There’ll be setbacks, rejections, and moments where you feel like giving up. But the ones who make it are the ones who keep pushing. If you believe in yourself and stay consistent, the right doors will open.

Authenticity – The moment I stopped trying to sound like someone else and fully embraced my own voice, everything changed. People connect with realness. Stay true to your sound, your story, and your vision; don’t chase trends.

Business Mindset – Music is an art, but it’s also a business. Branding, marketing, networking – learning how to move smart in the industry is just as important as making great music. If you’re starting out, take time to learn the business side early on.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

The last 12 months have been a game-changer for me. I dropped my debut album, The Revelations, and followed it up with my EP, Calm B4 The Storm. Releasing both projects back-to-back really pushed me as an artist. It tested my work ethic, my creativity, and my ability to level up.

The biggest growth has been in my confidence. I’ve learned to trust my sound, my instincts, and my vision. Before, I’d overthink every track, but now I just let the music flow and create from a real place.

Performing my new music and seeing people connect with it has been next-level. It made me realise I’m not just making songs; I’m building something people relate to. That’s what keeps me pushing forward. And trust me, there’s a lot more coming.
