Meet Kwacha Blake

We were lucky to catch up with Kwacha Blake recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kwacha, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My high school film instructor, Mr. Pino, instilled in me a strong work ethic by constantly challenging me to improve my editing and photography skills He would always make me go back over my work more than once to make sure I didn’t miss any small details he also taught me always to have a positive attitude because people in this industry can be rude and sometimes distressful and to keep a positive attitude thought all of it

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My profession is photography and videography. I also do video and photo editing. I take great pride in my work since it allows me to express my creativity and have fun at the same time. In addition to combining fashion, my brand also sort of tells a story. I don’t have any new launches yet but stay in tune with my photography page on Instagram @kwachasclipz

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

3 skills that were most impactful skills in my journey were attention to little detail. There have been so many times I thought I had taken a great photo just to realize a little detail was off and it messed up the picture it’s always good before you take that the subject or whatever you are shooting is perfect in your eye or it could ruin your whole picture. Being patient is also another skill that impacted my journey because sometimes getting the perfect picture isn’t easy You may need to wait for the right moment, like when the light is just right or when the subject looks its best. Being patient helps them capture great pictures without rushing. One last skill that was most impactful is being creative you can turn an original bland picture into something amazing if you have the right angle & lighting that will make it stand out.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

After I graduated from high school, my mom bought me my first camera, which was probably the best thing anyone had ever done for me. It meant a lot to me because initially she told me that I was wasting my time taking pictures and that I needed to find a real job, but after seeing all the photos I had taken for my high school and old clothing brand, she was impressed and started supporting what I was doing.
