We recently connected with Kyle Colton and have shared our conversation below.
Kyle, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my coach/mentor/manager Emanuel Millar.
Seeing him speaking up to people (on his own behalf or mine) and constantly pushing forward in a positive direction from a place of strength…has given me the resolve to push myself, no matter what challenges or setbacks I may face along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been acting for almost 30 years. My first film role came at 16, and I’ve been working as a professional tv/film actor in Hollywood since 2011
I’ve starred in films in Mexico City, Malaysia and Thailand…as well as in various cities around the United States.
I’m a versatile character actor with the screen presence of a leading man. My manager compares me to Joaquin Phoenix, Daniel Day-Lewis and Al Pacino

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important qualities that have helped me on my journey are discipline, creativity and trust
If you’re just starting out, you must develop consistency in your routines/techniques so that you can build a craft…regardless of what industry you’re in. A master plumber must build consistency in the proper techniques so that their method becomes second nature.
For an actor, that might be strengthening your memorization so the dialogue becomes second nature. Your mind and body (or instrument) must be fully available to you so you can access the full emotional spectrum, as well as physical adeptness for stunts or particular posture adjustments…or even utilize vocal affectation/accents…to fit the character
Your creativity can be expanded by constantly experiencing new movies/plays/activities/art so that you have more life experience to draw from. Or by studying other performances for inspiration.
Trust in yourself/your abilities comes from years of practice. There’s no shortcut for this. Having a spiritual belief that no matter how challenging our lives may become, things will work out. Often times, the greatest challenges make us a stronger person…and artist.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to work with filmmakers/directors/producers who are willing to push the boundaries in film. A director who knows what they want and is unapologetic about it. I would love to work on films that leave a lasting impression well after I’m gone. Substance over style
