Meet Kyle Lampi

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyle Lampi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kyle, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

“Of course the fitness trainer is going to say fitness!”

It’s true and it is something that not only have I seen in my personal life but in the lives of every client I have had the pleasure to work with.

Many people start their fitness journey because they want to feel better. Whether that means stronger, more energy, less body fat. Everyone’s journey and “why” is different but the funny thing is, they all build their emotional resilience along the way and not even realize it.

It’s hard to wake up before work when it’s dark, put your gym clothes on, and leave the warm house knowing you are about to go do hard things. It’s hard to lift a heavy barbell or do that 4th set of heavy squats. There are times when you are going to stare at that barbell and not want to pick it up again. Guess what? You’re going to though and that is what is building your emotional resilience. When your brain says no but you do it anyways, that’s what it’s all about

When I am out in the world and I see a strong/fit person, I already know so much about them without them having to open their mouths. I know they aren’t bothered by little things because they do hard things daily. I know they know what it’s like to push themselves, pick up that barbell even when they don’t want to. I can pretty much guarantee they are more physically and emotionally resilient than 90% of the people in that room.

So if you were to ask me where my resilience comes from, I would say fitness.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I help individuals learn the tools they need in lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise to be the most capable versions of themselves for the next 30-50 years of their lives.

I coach in person, 1:1 and write programs for people to follow remotely as well via an app. For more info you can find me at lampifitness.com or on instagram @lampifitness

I also recently started a supplement company with a dear friend and client of mine that is about to launch. It’s called GREEN SESSION and we focus on fitness supplements derived from wholly sourced ingredients that are micro dosed with THC.

One day during a training session we found ourselves wondering why no one had combined fitness supplements with the benefits of THC, especially in microdoses that could enhance both physical performance and mental clarity. We noticed a gap in the market, that’s when we set out to create a product that fused the cleanest, earth-sourced ingredients with the transformative power of THC.

We are very excited to launch our flagship product which a called ENDURE. It’s a creatine gummy with the micro dosed THC. 2 gummies will give you your daily dose of creatine along with a small dose of the THC. You can check us out at grnsession.com for more info if you are interested!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

First I would say, seek knowledge. If you are always seeking to learn, you are always growing. You are always picking up new ideas and learning new ways to look at a problem, learning new skills that will push you further in your journey. You never know what one line in a book, or a blurb from a podcast can spark.

Next, take care of yourself. Lift weights, sleep 8 hours, get sunshine, drink water, ingest high quality foods, walk daily. If you aren’t going to take care of the body and brain that you have, you aren’t going to be able to do as much as you think you can. Sure there are highly successful people that never sleep and eat like garbage but I’ll tell you what a bigger flex than money ever will be. The ability to walk into any room and have a capable strong body. You hold yourself different, your presence is different. There’s no fancy watch, car, number in the bank that can buy the confidence to take your shirt off anywhere and know that how you look and what you are capable of couldn’t be bought. That’s real power to me.

Finally, learn to be financially literate. No matter what your business is or your passion, you have to have money to either fuel it or live so you can follow it. The more you understand money and how it works, the more leveraging power you have for what ever it is you want to do.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

I am currently facing the ol “Impostor Syndrome” right now. It comes and goes but I think it’s back with it’s classic “You don’t belong here, they are all going to figure out you don’t know what you are doing, this is bigger than you” talk. I think it’s stemming from starting this new supplement business. It’s always scary starting something new that you know will be big and that pressure to stay on top of things can be overwhelming at times. Even to the point where you feel a sense of paralysis or like you don’t know what to do next.

I have expressed this feeling to alot of my successful friends and they all feel it from time to time as well. The trick that has worked for me in the past is not to focus on the end goal all the time. Rather do what you can daily as long as it’s pushing towards where you want to go, you are making progress. Keeping your head down and pushing forward is almost blinding to the looming “success” monster. Often times you keep pushing and then when you look up you’ve made it.
