Meet Kyle Schmidt

We were lucky to catch up with Kyle Schmidt recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kyle, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

To avoid burnout, I am constantly working on different types of projects. If I have been creating short videos way to much the last month, I switch and start focusing on graphic design or long form video editing. Sometimes, I stop being creative altogether and just develop my business.

It helps to have employees or co-workers to delegate responsibilities to so you can stay moving around.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I founded a boutique agency called Orchid Media last year. We are slowly but steadily growing. We offer social media management and video production services. This next year should hold some major upgrades. We have a lot of new pursuits in 2025. Stay tuned.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The reason for my successful journey this far has been my tenacity. I have come face to face with so many roadblocks and so many “no’s”. There were countless opportunities for me to quit – but I never did.

I would also state that my love for learning and bettering my skills has really helped as well. There were hundreds of late nights in college where I would do nothing but consume social media to understand all of the ins and outs. Same with editing – I would edit until 4am most nights just to make sure my product was perfect.

Just keep going.
Make it better.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Getting new clients.

We have the creative and the product down at this point. Our deliverables are high quality and our social strategy is sound. We also have the personnel in place to take on more projects and accounts.

At this moment, our efforts are to bring on more clients, and it is just a bit more difficult than previously thought. We are utilizing social and paid advertising. Work of mouth still seems to be the most effective.

We are not worried though, clients will come.
