Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kylie Adams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kylie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
In my culinary journey, I have discovered my purpose through a combination of self-reflection, experience, and a commitment to continuous learning. Early in my journey, I explored various recipes and types of cooking to understand what resonated with me the most. I paid attention to tasks and projects that brought me a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.
I also engaged in continuous self-reflection, identifying my strengths, passions, and values. This process helped me align my culinary pursuits with activities that not only showcased my skills but also resonated with my personal values.
In summary, finding my purpose has been an ongoing journey of self-discovery, learning from experiences, and seeking guidance from mentors, ultimately leading me to a fulfilling and purpose-driven culinary path.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a self-taught chef with a passion for Southern comfort food. My culinary journey has been a personal exploration driven by my love for the rich flavors and traditional techniques associated with Southern cuisine. I have dedicated countless hours to studying and mastering the art of preparing classic Southern dishes, drawing inspiration from family recipes, regional influences, and my own creative touch.
While my path to becoming a chef may not have followed a traditional culinary school route, my commitment to excellence and continuous learning has allowed me to develop a unique and authentic style. I take pride in bringing the warmth and nostalgia of Southern comfort food to the table, creating memorable dining experiences for those who appreciate the soulful flavors of the South.
I am excited to share that I am embarking on a new venture: launching a monthly subscription service that focuses on meal prepping for adults and providing homemade baby food purees. With a passion for creating delicious and nutritious meals, I have decided to channel that enthusiasm into a service that caters to busy individuals and families.
My subscription service will offer meticulously crafted, ready-to-enjoy meals for adults, emphasizing convenience without compromising on taste or nutritional value. Additionally, recognizing the importance of healthy options for little ones, I will be providing homemade baby food purees, made with utmost care and using fresh, wholesome ingredients.
This venture is not only a business for me but a personal mission to contribute to the well-being of individuals and families by simplifying their mealtime routines. I am dedicated to ensuring that my subscribers enjoy not only the convenience of ready-made meals but also the satisfaction of providing nourishing and delicious options for themselves and their little ones.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As a self-taught chef with a deep passion for feeding busy families, three key skills and qualities have been instrumental in my journey:
Adaptability: One of the critical skills that has defined my success is adaptability. In the fast-paced world of culinary arts, especially when catering to busy families, being able to adapt to various dietary preferences, time constraints, and evolving culinary trends is crucial. I thrive on finding creative solutions to meet the diverse needs of my clients, ensuring that each meal is not only delicious but also tailored to their unique preferences and lifestyles.
Organization: To streamline the meal preparation process and cater to busy families, organizational skills are paramount. From planning diverse weekly menus to efficiently managing ingredients and cooking timelines, my strong organizational skills have allowed me to create a seamless and stress-free experience for my clients. This ensures that they have access to wholesome, home-cooked meals without the hassle of meal planning and preparation.
Passion for Nourishment: Beyond the technical aspects of cooking, my passion for nourishing others has been a driving force in my culinary journey. I believe that good food is not only about taste but also about providing sustenance and joy. This passion motivates me to go the extra mile, sourcing fresh and high-quality ingredients, experimenting with flavors, and continuously honing my skills to create meals that not only satisfy hunger but also contribute to the well-being of the families I serve.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Over the past 12 months, my most significant area of growth and improvement has been my commitment to achieving and maintaining sobriety, as well as prioritizing my overall mental and physical well-being. Recognizing the importance of self-care, I made a conscious decision to embark on a journey of personal development.
Addressing and overcoming challenges related to substance use required resilience, self-reflection, and a strong support system. Through dedication and a commitment to positive change, I have successfully maintained sobriety, which has had a transformative impact on both my personal and professional life.
Simultaneously, I’ve placed a greater emphasis on self-care, understanding that my mental and physical health are integral to my overall success and happiness. Incorporating mindfulness practices, and seeking professional support when needed has been instrumental in fostering a healthier lifestyle.
This journey has not only strengthened my personal resolve but has also positively influenced my approach to challenges in my culinary business. I am now better equipped to handle stress, approach tasks with a clear mind, and engage more effectively in both my personal and professional endeavors.
