Lá, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Our purpose came to life through our own experiences and shared passion for connection, cuisine, and culture. We’ve always believed that some of the most meaningful conversations happen over a good meal, and we wanted to create a space where people could come together, not just to eat, but to truly connect.
We saw how Vietnamese cuisine is often enjoyed in homes, yet many people only experience a small part of it at restaurants. That inspired us to bring a more immersive dining experience—one that highlights not just the flavors, but also the stories, traditions, and warmth behind each dish.
Through hosting dinners, we realized that food has the power to spark deeper connections. Whether it’s introducing someone to a new dish, sharing a personal memory tied to a recipe, or simply creating a space where people feel comfortable opening up, we found our purpose:
– To connect people through meaningful conversations
– To share the richness of Vietnamese cuisine and culture with those eager to experience it
– To create a dining experience that’s not just about food, but about the people, stories, and connections made around the table
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Lá, meaning “leaf” or “herb,” is at the heart of every Vietnamese dish, symbolizing the freshness and depth that define our cuisine. Just as herbs transform a dish, meaningful conversations and shared experiences elevate a meal. That’s why we created Lá Dinner Club—a space where food brings people together in a special way.
Each month, we invite guests to gather around the table to enjoy homemade Vietnamese cuisine, exploring the richness of our culture through flavors, stories, and traditions. More than just a dinner, Lá is an experience—where everyone is a member and always feels at home. We can’t wait to welcome you!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three other qualities that have been impactful in Lá’s journey are creativity, adaptability, and attention to detail. Creativity has allowed me to think outside the box, whether in problem-solving, storytelling, or creating memorable experiences. Adaptability has helped us navigate unexpected challenges and embrace change with confidence. Attention to detail ensures that every experience we craft—whether in food, conversation, or community-building—feels intentional and meaningful. For those starting out, I’d say to trust your creative instincts, stay open to change, and never underestimate the power of the little things—they often make the biggest difference!
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
In the past six months since opening, we’ve seen incredible growth and been overwhelmed by the love and support from our community. Our concept has resonated with so many people, and guests have shared how much they appreciate the unique dining experience we provide that is different from the traditional dining setting.
We’ve also seen growth within our team. Guests who attend our dinners not only enjoy the atmosphere but are inspired to contribute and be part of our team, returning with enthusiasm to help us continue creating this special environment. This has been a huge area of growth for us, as we’ve cultivated a space where our team and guests both feel like valued members of something bigger than just a meal – it’s an experience. Seeing how people connect and want to contribute to our vision has been truly humbling and exciting.
