We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lacie Aldridge . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lacie below.
Lacie , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I had to go through a lot of trial and error with this one because middle school was crazy am I right? But as of right now at 30 years old I have finally found my flow. I finally realized that my passions, what brings me joy and the things that light a spark in me ARE GOOD. There should be no shame in the game when it comes to being true to yourself. I learned that I was happier when I embraced these truths about myself rather than questioning them and still being confused about who I am. Because confusion leads to anger and that can lead to bitterness and I learned at a young age that I did not like how bitterness felt. So I have fully embraced that colors make me happy, I love Inanimate objects with faces, squishmallows are a requirement for me, I’m obsessed with books and I have to have at least 1 physical book and my kindle with me at all times, I never want to go back to my natural hair color, it needs to be bright. Period. I love wearing fun pants and shirts that don’t necessarily match. These are the types of truths that were always there for me but I had to accept them as my own to live my best life and show myself that what I love Is valuable no matter what anyone else says. I am 100% confident in who I am and I love who I am. I know I am super cool and I can rock any hairstyle haha. I sat down with myself and asked “What brings me joy?”and I embraced every answer and gave myself permission to live my truth. That is when you truly start living.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a creative coach who helps people find their truth that was always inside but not given permission to come out. For example someone is working a job they hate and come to me for a session we don’t talk about the job we talk about what words describe them as a person? What brings you joy? How can you incorporate your strengths and joy into your life on a daily basis? It’s so rewarding to see people grow into their true self and be so excited about loving themselves. Once I learned how to love myself I couldn’t wait to start helping others. We do 10 one on one sessions and then from there we move on to a deeper dive into whatever was revealed about themselves that they want to explore. There is nothing much more rewarding than to see someone get excited about being themselves after our sessions.
I graduated from SCAD with a degree in Graphic Design but was very passionate about helping people see their true creative potential. Because so many people would look at me and say “I could never wear what you wear or do my hair like that but you look amazing.” They were admiring me but with a side of loss or regret. It drove me to figure how I could help people in a creative way see that no matter what stage of life you’re in it’s never too late to figure who you are, what makes you tick and what brings a smile to your face. Honor those things and show yourself love. That’s what I help people see and do. It’s amazing.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I learned that just because we grow up doesn’t mean we have to grow out of everything we love. There is not an age requirement on what brings you joy. Learning to listen to others was a very impactful thing. Sometimes people aren’t looking to be saved they are just looking to be heard and that was a major thing for me to learn. I also learned that my time is valuable and I don’t have to give it to everyone and getting that control back was very helpful in my growth journey because it is very important to schedule time for yourself not just waiting for time to be left over after you’ve given it all away.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I would like to reference two foundational books because they go hand in hand for my particular journey. The first one is Fast Like a Girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz. This book got me on the right path to healing my body and now that I finally am getting my health under control it gave me the energy to start digging deeper and looking within. Which leads me to the second book, The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I found this book because of Dr. Mindy’s podcast and it changed everything for me. Because I was already taking initiative on my health journey I was ready for more ways to improve my life and The Miracle Morning was the answer. These books are not out of reach for anyone and they meet you right where you are because it is your life and your choice. Take in the information and choose how you want to apply it so you can live your level 10 life. Our life is made up of choices and it is just so much more enjoyable when you choose your own happiness.
