Meet Ladan Johari

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ladan Johari a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ladan, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I’ve built my resilience through constant change, new places, new people, new creative fields. Each shift taught me how to start over, adapt fast, and stay grounded. When things felt uncertain, I reminded myself that curiosity is stronger than fear. Every time it feels like I’m back at square one or have to learn a new skill, I see it as part of the process, not a setback. It’s how I stay calm, curious, and ready for what’s next, or at least, I try to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I come from a background in art, architecture, and design, so I approach problems through both structure and emotion. As a creative technologist, I care about harmony and connection in everything I create. I design experiences that bring a sense of ease to complexity, whether it’s a digital interface or a physical space. I’m curious about how technology can expand creativity, and I believe good design improves how people feel, think, and navigate their world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, curiosity, flexibility, and patience have shaped my path the most.
Curiosity keeps me exploring new tools, materials, and ways of thinking. Flexibility helps me adapt each time I start something unfamiliar , a new medium, a new direction, or a new environment. And patience reminds me that real growth takes time, and I should trust the process even when things feel uncertain.
For anyone at the beginning of their journey, I’d say, don’t rush it. Try things, stay open, and let experience connect the dots for you. The process teaches you more than any plan ever could.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always open to collaborating with people who are curious and excited, or anyone who creates with care through design, art, or new a technology. I’m interested in projects that explore new ways of thinking, especially where disciplines overlap and something unexpected can happen. It’s always fascinating how different fields can fill the gaps and solve problems in ways one alone can’t. I really believe the future is interdisciplinary. If something in my journey resonates with you, or if you just want to exchange ideas, I’d love to connect. Many great ideas start in casual conversations.
