Meet Lady Ashley McNair

We recently connected with Lady Ashley McNair and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lady Ashley, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
I would say my generosity comes from a combination of watching/spending time with my grandparents and also from being a Pastor’s Kid (PK). Summers at my grandparent’s house involved cleaning the church on Saturday mornings, and putting food from the garden in Ziploc bags to give to the people at the church, family friends, and neighbors. My grandparents were excellent examples of being kind and generous to other people. Some people would think that being a Pastor’s Kid would make me selfish, but it honestly showed me what true selflessness looked like. My parents were generous with their time, their finances, their love, and their commitment. So much of who I am today is because of them!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe the top three qualities that have been the most impactful on my journey have been compassion, intentionality, and patience. For those who are just embarking on their own journey I think these qualities, and more, are essential to possess. Compassion allows us to think about others and not only ourselves. I like to think of intentionality as a fire being lit in and under us. Everything we set out to do, whether small or great, requires a certain level of passion and intentionality. Patience, although sometimes hard to have in certain moments or situations, it is absolute necessary! Things will not always happen in our timing, but when you trust in God and have enough patience to wait on Him, everything will make sense after awhile.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Feeling inadequate. I am intentional everyday about affirming myself and what I have to offer. I rehearse what God says about me, and even when I feel like I am not enough or don’t have what it takes, I find a scripture to combat what I’m feeling.
