We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lady Kimberly Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lady below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lady with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I inherited my work ethic from my Father. He was and still is a hard working man who took care of his family I use to watch him come home tired after working 12 hour days in a hot environment and never complained, he knew that he had 3 children and a wife that was depending on him, often times his co workers would tell me every time we see your dad no matter what he may be dealing with he always has a smile on his face everyday. He taught me and my brothers that you either work hard now or easy later or easy now and hard later. So watching my dad’s work ethic has inspired me to push hard daily with a smile on my face for my daughter so that she will have everything she needs and understand that hard work pays off and to never give up.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Lady Kimberly Jackson and I am a National Gospel Recording Artist from Houston, Texas. I have been singing in the church since the age of 3 and 30 plus years later I am still singing after all of these years. My gift as a gospel singer gave me the opportunity to be invited into other churches to share me with others and touch many lives from Louisiana and Texas. I finally dared to record my first single produced by Roderick Bubba Dowlings entitled , “Higher,” which is my testimony of what God has done in my life. So far, my music has been played on WESL Radio with Chuck Spearman and Daulton Anderson of WHCR 90.3FM New York, Andre Carter of Synergy 1 Radio, Nia Network, KDOM, it has also been well received in the UK and the Caribbean, to name a few. Also, I was featured in Voyage Houston Magazine, My Houston Gospel.com, Canvas Rebel, Shoutout HTX, Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel on the Impact Network in 2022, and I also was featured in Annie Johnson’s Hit Stage play Unfinished Business, where I was awarded Best Female Artist, in 2022 I was nominated for five awards for the Rhythm of Gospel Music Awards for 2023 and lastly I have been awarded the 2023 River Award Female Artist of the Year. My sophomore single, “God Will Do It,” is out right now on all digital outlets produced by Zach Fisher.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
If I were to name three qualities that I carry, I would say that I have a very strong work ethic, I am very teachable, and I am a huge people’s person. In this industry that I am in the qualities that I have are definitely needed in order to be successful. You have to put in the hard work and push through daily, people have to be able to teach you the skills that you need in order to fulfill your accomplishments and be very open minded, and you must a love for people so that you are very easy to be around and very approachable because you meet and interact with different people all of the time.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents Patricia and Johnny Jackson have covered me in prayer and have been very instrumental to this journey that I am in now. Also, they instill a lot of wisdom inside of me and keep me very humble. They do not allow me to loose myself in this process and I love them for that.
