Meet La’kamaro Johnson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful La’kamaro Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi La’Kamaro, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I find my purpose by going through my phone every day and looking at the photos of my daughter, who lives her best life just because. To see that she had to fight to earn her place in this world before she was even born. And to see that she came from Drs telling my wife and I that she wouldn’t develop like other children because she was born early. To watch my daughter defy the odds every single day to where people are telling us how smart and well inform she is for her age. That’s where my purpose comes from.

I find my purpose from seeing my wife picking up the slack from when she had to make sacrifices to get my SUV fixed because I had a flat tire and couldn’t afford to fix it. Meanwhile ending up getting hers into bigger issues. to see her take all the weight from me not having a job and paying for hotels, groceries, and everything in between just so we can survive let alone be happy. To watch her wake up early every single day to go work, be her best, come home, and do it all again and rinse and repeat is where I find my purpose.

My family is what drives me, they give me reason, hope, drive. They are my purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much, yet so little to tell about me. I started my own mobile mechanic business to help those that have been either abused, betrayed, or just taken advantage of by the same thing that is set to help them. I want to make, or at least try to make a difference one person/vehicle at a time. I know the road won’t be easy, and I know it’s going to be hard for people to come to me, but I know in my heart that the one or two people that trusts me to do a job will spread my work to others like an unlimited supply of hugs. And that is all I ever ask for. Because I’ve been in that position where you don’t know who you call on in your time of hurt, especially if you’ve felt that sting one too many times to brag.

I can tell you how many clients I’ve helped that say the same thing about being hurt and I know that feeling, and so I am trying to heal that scar one vehicle at a time.

The incentives I offer are cheaper and more affordable price than anyone I know in this craft, and any person client that refers someone they know, i give that client an even cheaper discount. And the longer a client stays with me, the more incentive they get like a wash or detailed clean with their permission. I am trying to do right by people so I can continue to count my blessings, because God will always provide.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think, no, I feel that my greatest skill is never saying that I can’t do something, because that is limiting my expectations and my own ability to do and be better than I already am. On top of that, my skills and knowledge in the craft, and to be able to look at something and see a plethora of hidden potential that I don’t think others can see. Sure it may sound lie gibberish to some, but to me, that is what I see.

For those who are on this path of creating their own name and brand, I say never give up, because that is what separates you from the rest of the world. Never tell yourself that you can’t do something. We all have talents and potential be better at something, you just have t be willing to take chance and go for it. the worst that could happen is you fall. how you recover is what defines you. God has blessed everyone of us with a gift like no other, and we will be judges by our works, so never waste that gift.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Ahh man, this one is deep,

The most helpful person throughout my entire journey my homie, best friend, and companion, my Queen, and my wife. Allison. She has been with me from the very beginning since we’ve got together. Granted I wasn’t pursuing my business then, mainly because of being in the military. but I always talked about what I wanted to do when I get out. and she has stuck by my side through it all. we have seen good days, bad days, but no matter what, she never gave up on me.

The other is my brother Taffari, He has been a driving force in my path as well, because every time we talked, he reminds of time since passed with our amazing father who was never there when we need him most, but always willing to throw us out on the streets because where he saw anger and temper, we saw drive and potential. Because of that misrepresentation, he kicked us out at 16 and 17 years old when we were still figuring who are as young men.

Lastly is my beautiful, strong willed, sassy little daughter. She is my greatest achievement, my reason, my why.
