Meet Lamier Thompson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lamier Thompson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lamier below.

Lamier, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

My self-discipline genuinely comes from understanding the power of planting seeds. What I mean by that is, depending on the type of seeds you plant in your life, they will eventually grow. I’m aiming to build a brand and company that will outlive me and continue to benefit others long after I’m gone.

If I don’t take the necessary steps, learn as much as I can, and connect with people who have built something meaningful, or if I simply don’t do anything that brings me closer to my goals, then I can’t be upset with anyone but myself.

One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is Nehemiah 6, where Nehemiah says, “I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down.” He said this because he understood the purpose behind what he was building, even if others didn’t see it or understand why he was so determined to finish the work. It wasn’t just about him. It was about others.

Something my brother once said to me that has stuck with me is, “It’s not about you. Your ‘yes’ is tied to other people.” That really resonated with me. Yes, I have dreams and aspirations, but by actually doing the work, I might be inspiring someone else to step into what they’re called to do as well. Even if I don’t realize it, someone might be watching.

I want people to see how seriously I take my work and think, “If he can do it, I can too.” I want people from where I come from, who look like me, to know that it’s possible. That we don’t have to just dream about doing great things; we can take real steps to make them happen.

So if I have to be the one who looks “crazy” for living a disciplined life and building something that seems far-fetched or impossible, then so be it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a fashion designer who recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design & Merchandising. I’m passionate about sewing, and my primary focus is creating cut-and-sew garments. My goal is to build a brand that’s not only known for the quality of our pieces but also for the unique experiences we provide to the public.

I believe it’s essential to build a strong support system, which is why I value creating opportunities for people to experience my brand—both online and especially in person. Social media is a great tool, but there’s nothing like allowing people who may not know you to step into your world and hear your story. That kind of connection not only helps drive sales but, more importantly, allows others to understand and feel part of the vision. They may not grasp it all at once, but they might become genuinely invested.

If you’re interested in purchasing or simply learning more, please visit lamierlee.com and follow us on our social media platforms. Whether it’s a purchase or a donation, your support means everything. Lamierlee is an independently funded brand, so every contribution goes directly toward bringing our ideas to life—and we don’t take any of it for granted.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three skills that was most impactful in my journey has been dedicating time out of the classroom to work on my craft, don’t take the “no’s” that you hear personal, and make connections with people because you don’t know how that can help you in or out of your career field. My advice to anyone early on this journey is to stay at it especially if you deep down know it will pay off, ignore all of the noise it may not always be and look fun but the reward will be more than worth it.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I’ve been reading a lot more lately, so I have quite a few favorite books. But the I will always say is the Bible. Even for people who may not believe in God, I always say the Bible is a book full of life. It literally lays out cause and effect. If you do this, then this will happen, and we see those truths play out in real life.

The principles, the values, and even the struggles of the people in the Bible, along with how they persevered, all hold so much relevance today. There’s so much wisdom in that one book alone, so without a doubt, I have to say the Bible.
