Hi Lana, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is an inheritance from the dedication of my father, who tirelessly worked double shifts throughout my entire upbringing. Witnessing his relentless commitment to providing for our family left a mark on me. His sacrifices instilled in me an understanding that success is not merely a choice but a responsibility. I carry with me the his work ethic, a driving force that propels me to give my best in every endeavor. Passion for my work is not just a personal pursuit; it’s a tribute to the sacrifices made by him, a commitment to turning his hard work into a legacy of success.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a first generation American, I wanted to pursue my parents’ wishes of getting my college degree and landing a “classic, stable income job” as they called it. Very soon after, I realized my creativity and passion disintegrated in an office environment.

I started a side passion on Etsy by creating nail products, working out of a shed in my backyard for about 4 years. As it slowly expanded, I pursued Twinkled T full time.

My journey in the world of nail aesthetics has been nothing short of a dream. I find excitement in staying at the forefront of new trends in nail art. What sets my brand apart is the personal touch ingrained in every aspect—I am the heart and soul behind the hand-designed, created, tested, and managed process of each product. This hands-on approach ensures that every product is a true reflection of my passion and commitment to staying connected with my business, and most importantly, my customers.

My newest journey has been attending more in person popups to meet my customers in Los Angeles face to face, and having them see my Gel Baby colors and Press Ons live and in action.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three pivotal skills have played a transformative role in shaping my path.

Firstly, the mastery of social media marketing. It became a dynamic tool for brand visibility and engagement. Over the last 10 years, I’ve gone through all the waves of social media. From Facebook being the initial intro, to Instagram becoming the heart, and now to TikTok becoming the best brand awareness platform. I recommend every business owner to change with the times, and keep up with where the eyes are going. Market your business with affiliates in your area, whether it’s sending free product or offering a commission; your brand ambassadors are vital for your growth.

The art of avoiding burnout became an invaluable skill. Understanding the delicate balance between ambition and self-care allowed me to sustain long-term passion and productivity. It’s easy to allow your own business to take over your life. A business owner is never really off the clock. Set a time for yourself to be off the clock, get physical activity in once a day, and maintain your friendships/relationships.

Lastly, delving into the intricacies of SEO proved to be a game-changer, amplifying my online presence and ensuring that my efforts were discoverable in the vast digital landscape. I learned how to use specific tags, blog posts, and keywords to make sure my company appears quickly on Google searches. There are plenty of free courses online for new business owners to learn these strategies.
