We recently connected with Lanasia Buck and have shared our conversation below.
Lanasia , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my mother. She never said a lot about how difficult things were for her in life, either personally or professionally. She just found a way to gracefully navigate through it all with God. She instilled a firm foundation of faith in my sisters and I. Growing up, I didn’t always understand it. But as I grew older and started to see her as more than just an imperfect mother, as most children do. Learning more about her story, I was able to value her as a strong, powerful, God fearing and resilient woman who faced many of hardships and pressed forward with less words and more action. That’s something I admire most about her and pray to embody even a fraction of. She never talked about her resilience, she just showed and proved.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As a certified life coach, successful business owner and author of The Balance Book, I help individuals to identify the mental barriers that cause them to feel stuck and hold them back from achieving at their highest level.
Over a decade in leadership and entrepreneurship, what I’ve learned is that the biggest problem for most people is not what they have to “Do” but rather who they have to “Become” in order to succeed.
My transformational coaching framework and empowering coaching style is what bridges that gap and helps my clients to uncover their personal truth, embody the authentic version of themselves and effortlessly execute on the things that produce the results they want to achieve within their lives and businesses.
My philosophy is that “Everything you need is already within you”. Once I challenge you to see beyond your perceived limitations, you’ll soon realize that you have unlimited potential that grants you access to limitless possibilities.
What’s most exciting to me about my work is that I get to be MYSELF for a living and that I get to help others to do the same! BEING your most authentic self and showing up in your God given power is your gift to the world! It’s so important that we recognize that and then stand in it!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that were most impactful in my journey have been My Faith, My Fitness and My Fight. Trusting God, developing myself mentally, physically and spiritually every single day and disciplining myself enough everyday to get up and go after what I believed in, regardless of doubt, fear, perceived lack of resources and support. My greatest advice to anyone would be to have strong FAITH, prepare yourself to be FIT to handle the inevitable challenges and FIGHT for what you believe in with everything in you!
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The best book you will ever read in the world is THE BIBLE. It’s all encompassing of every principle of every self-help book ever written. Every author of the best books in the world, drew their insight and perspective from the Bible.
One of my favorite books is The Four Agreements:
“Be Impeccable With Your Word”
“Don’t Take Anything Personally”
“Don’t Make Assumptions”
“Always Do Your Best”
Simple principles that everyone should live by.
