Meet Landon Stark

We were lucky to catch up with Landon Stark recently and have shared our conversation below.

Landon, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

Being the only magician in a room has its benefits however standing out and gaining clients is where all the hard work comes into play. Even being the only person in your field, you always have rivalry. We are constantly competing against daily distractions, cellphones and media. I set myself apart from the competition by offering a unique brand. Stark Magic has often been imitated but never reproduced. I make sure my clients know this is a one-of-a-kind experience and that they are in good hands. The key is to under promise and over deliver.
As a magician, my job is to entertain the audience, but I also want to give them an unparalleled encounter and contribute something profound that they will never see again.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Stark Magic is Dallas Fort Worth’s #1 Magic Show Company. We offer a variety of specialty acts for any type of event. We have performed for the Prime Minister of Trinidad, opened up for SmashMouth on Tour, and we’ve even performed for The Real Housewives of Dallas (just to name a few).
StarkMagic was created by Landon Stark. Landon first started out performing magic at the ripe age of 10. With a deep desire and passion for magic, Landon grew his craft. After college, Landon took his hit show, “Magic & Mischief”, on an international tour that later landed him in Dallas Texas. As they say, the rest was history. StarkMagic is now beloved and renowned around the Lone Star State offering year round entertainment.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Study your profession and make sure you know all aspects of it. Taking the time to research and learn is very important. When I first started out, it was pre-internet. I would spend countless hours at my local library reading every piece of magic literature that I could find. The information that I received from those books were invaluable even to this day.

2. Take time to celebrate a win. Whether you get a new contract or an earned promotion, carve out time to appreciate the good work.

3. Meet new people and cultivate those relationships. Networking is key and growing any business survives on a healthy community.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

“Through the years, I have learned there is no harm in charging oneself up with delusions between moments of valid inspiration.”

“Thankfully, persistence is a great substitute for talent.”

“Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do criticize him, you’ll be a mile away and have his shoes.”

“It’s pain that changes our lives.”
