Meet Laneya Johnson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Laneya Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Laneya, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive is by being outside in the world. The world holds so much beauty that it’s very easy for me to find so much creativity. I also love seeing fashion icons that were before me paving the way for me to be creative. Another thing keeping my creativity alive is myself because I’m always finding new ways within myself and my sketches to make something new and bring something new alive.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi i am Laneya Christine Johnson and i am a designer. I’ve been designing for 4 and 1/2 years now and it’s the most exciting thing to do. It’s always fun for me to learn and constantly learn new things about creating and designing, but i have my moments where it gets tough and hard but that the beauty in tough situations is that you have to keep going. The most exciting thing about designing is that you can honestly make anything you want and whatever you want and that’s the best part of it all is that you have the power to make anything to want and seeing others enjoy the things you make. It’s an amazing experience being a designer and a creative because i love seeing people in my handmade pieces that i enjoy making.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back 3 qualities and skills that are the most impactful for me is studying and developing your craft and really dig deep about what you love making and being the very best at it. Also knowing that no one can be you but you so that a quality In itself that no one can do what you do when you create. And last but doing everything in love and with love and being authentic because people can see what real and fake and the time and effort you put in your craft so be the very best you can be and everything will fall in line.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The person who has been the most helpful overcoming my challenges was my dad he would give me the word of God. The truth, his authenticity, and his love, and those were the most important things i could ever ask more moving forward into my career and me as an individual and in my business. He was my number one supporter, my father, and friend and i miss him dearly. I wish he could see me today he would be so proud and i am making him proud; this was something we believed in and prayed about so seeing all my dreams come true slowly but surely Is a beautiful thing. Also just keep going and never give up and never accept the answer No on your dreams; dream big, think big, and see big over your life and future.
