Meet Laquinda Johnson

We were lucky to catch up with Laquinda Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

LaQuinda , thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

As a homeschooling mom and small business owner, I overcome or avoid burnout by establishing clear boundaries and prioritizing self-care. I set specific times for work, homeschooling, and personal activities, ensuring I’m fully present in each role. To maintain energy and focus, I incorporate healthy habits like scheduling “me time” for activities that recharge me. I delegate tasks where possible, use flexible routines, and set realistic goals to manage my workload effectively. By building a strong support system, practicing mindfulness, and embracing flexibility, I stay adaptable to the demands of both homeschooling and my business. Reflecting regularly on my progress and celebrating small wins helps keep me motivated, while leveraging educational resources ensures a dynamic learning environment for my children. Ultimately, maintaining a positive mindset and remembering my purpose keeps me balanced and prevents burnout.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As a homeschooling mom, government contractor and the founder of an educational consulting agency, my work revolves around a deep passion for education and empowering others to reach their highest potential. I specialize in offering a range of educational services and solutions, including professional development workshops, tutorial services, coaching, strategic planning, and an innovative reading program. What excites me most about my work is seeing scholars ,educators and parents thrive beyond the traditional classroom setting. Through our tailored programs, I aim to create dynamic learning experiences that engage, inspire, and foster a genuine love for learning.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey: adaptability, strategic thinking, and the ability to build meaningful relationships. As a homeschooling mom, business owner, author and government contractor adaptability has allowed me to navigate unexpected challenges and pivot quickly when needed, whether it’s adjusting a lesson plan or reimagining a business strategy. Strategic thinking has been essential for setting clear goals and aligning my actions with my long-term vision, ensuring that every step I take is purposeful. Finally, building meaningful relationships has opened countless doors for collaboration, support, and growth, allowing me to learn from others and share my journey in meaningful ways.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities by embracing change and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. Practice strategic thinking by setting both short-term and long-term goals and breaking them down into actionable steps. Invest time in networking and building relationships with people who share your values and passions, as these connections can provide valuable guidance and support. Remember, success is not just about what you achieve but also about how you adapt, plan, and connect with others along the way.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
