Meet LaRae Day

We recently connected with LaRae Day and have shared our conversation below.

LaRae, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Women in business, especially young women in business, are often underestimated. As a millennial female entrepreneur, I’ve experienced this time and time again. At first, rampant sexism and ageism in the workplace came as a shock to me because, after all – aren’t we living in the 21st century? Yes, society has come a long way from its historical roots, and yes, more opportunities are available to women than ever before. However, this does not justify the additional efforts and unfair sacrifices many modern women must make to reach a level playing field with their male colleagues, especially elder male colleagues. Thanks to the endless sacrifices of countless heroic women throughout history, we’ve come a very long way. …but we still have a long way to go, and like history’s heroines before us, it is up to us to establish the foundation for future generations of women to build upon. It is this vision that drives me to pursue success and let the results speak for themselves, even when I am the “only one” in the room that looks like me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a small-town-girl raised in the Rocky Mountains of Utah, I grew up changing diapers and cooking dinner for my seven younger brothers and sisters instead of attending school. My first dream was to become a figure skater, so I began making the 2 hour bus ride to the ice rink by myself, almost daily. Even after becoming a state gold medalist figure skater or graduating college with a bachelor’s degree, Little LaRae couldn’t have possibly imagined the plans God had for her, but she dared to dream.

As an international runway model of many years and marketing mogul, I have walked in and worked with numerous New York Fashion Weeks, Paris Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week, and Miami Swim Week. As a published model and public relations specialist, my work has been featured in many publications and magazines including Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Getty Images, and solo on several magazine covers. As an influencer and social media strategist, I have grown my personal social media viewing to approximately 50,000 viewers on Instagram @larae.day and have worked as a sponsored brand partner with with Prada Milano, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, and countless other noteworthy brands in fashion and beauty. I attended the official Grammy Awards for the first time this February, where I had the opportunity to meet Oprah and other A-list celebrities.

My latest endeavor involves recently accepting a role as the CEO of Platinum Technologies, a custom web development and specialized software company.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. The determination to persevere. 2. The perseverance to be resilient in the face of challenges. 3. The resilience to try again and again until you’ve made a name for yourself.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
As a matter of fact, Platinum Technologies is currently accepting new clients. At Platinum Tech., we pride ourselves in working with a very exclusive selection of clientele in order to offer the most diligent dedication to your web development needs. If your corporation, established business, or funded start-up is interested in developing a custom website featuring cutting-edge modern web technology… our team of experts are the partners you’ve been looking for!
