Meet Latanya Williams

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Latanya Williams . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Latanya with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I would have to say my strong work ethic comes from my family. My mother was a single parent and she made sure to instill in us discipline motivation, and goals at a young age.She understood the importance of a strong work ethic and knew how crucial it would be for me to have that in order to be successful person in the professional world. Through practice and consistent effort from my mother and siblings, along with constant self reflection,I adapted productive habits and stayed dedicated to embracing challenges and opportunities that continue to help me on my personal growth journey as a creator. My family has taught me to maintain a strong work ethic, you must cultivate it through constant effort.Procrastination, burnout and distractions pose obstacles to maintaining a strong work ethic and I’m glad to say my family has kept me grounded and focused on my goals.Observing and learning from them as not just family but as individuals has really helped foster this strong work ethic as well.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a licensed professional travel hairstylist located in the NYC.I love doing hair because it’s a form of art.It shows my creativity and skills. It also therapeutic it clears my mind and have me focus on my artistry as a professionalism.

For the past two years i have been in the process of making my own hair care products that focuses on hair growth, scalp rejuvenation and hair moisture. My goal is to launch my products “NUGUVU” in the spring of 2024 which means empowerment and strength of women.

My inspiration behind the hair care product is my clients. All of them are beautiful, successful women who have trusted me to enhance their self esteem and confidence. Which continues to motives me to work even harder.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three skills that was most impactful to me was learning how to braid, color and cut hair. All three was challenging but i just say the braiding was the hardest. Because I had to learn how to braid by adding hair and also names of the hair styles. Coloring and cutting was easier i constantly practiced on my mannequin heads as well as friends and family.

My advice to those who choose this as a career path would be to study hard at your craft and stay focuse.Attend classes and utilize all platforms of social media to abreast with the new hair styles and trends . Most importantly believe in yourself and never give up.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed is a common experience, and it’s important to have strategies and steps to help manage and alleviate these sometimes everyday stresses.Self care is very important learning to love and care for yourself is a number one priority.I work well with all my clients and have always maintained my professionalism and integrity. If i want to continue to be great and make my clients look and feel good i need to take care of myself.so being overwhelmed comes with this business it’s learning how to deal with it through out the day and keeping my self worth.
The strategies i implement when i become overwhelmed is taking a few minutes with deep breaths, meditate and praying.I’m grateful for the gift i have and given this opportunity to encourage women whom might be insecure or have low self esteem give them a reason to smile and feel good about themselves
