We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Latina Bohemian a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Latina, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Life. I get my resilience from challenges and trials. Since a young age, I have been able to evolve from setbacks and not see them as obstacles. It has fueled me to see things from a different perspective and keep going.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a poet. What I find most intriguing about poetry is that you can be versatile. Your creativity is limitless, and you don’t have to put yourself in one box. There are many angles you can take, and the world is yours. When I create a piece of work, I like to be daring and detach from expectations. I consider myself to be an individualist and an independent thinker. It has helped me artistically and as a human.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The important qualities that have propelled me throughout my journey are persistency, courage, and resilience. All of which encourage me to overcome daily fear and self-deceit. As an artist, you will feel misunderstood and underestimated at times, but never let it cloud your vision and kill your confidence. When I start to doubt myself, an inner fire in me eliminates those negative beliefs. My best advice to anyone seeking a creative path is to be passionate and self-confident. You want to see yourself as a walking force that can achieve anything.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Strangers. They have taught me to be tenacious and strong-willed. To stay determined even when life gets tough and intimidating, keep your eye on the prize and let nothing put you down or divert you from your aspirations and goals.
