We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Latisha Pearson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Latisha, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
When you grow up with as many siblings as I did, you learn to share everything. After so long, it just became a part of who I am, causing me to thrive in a spirit of generosity. As a grown woman, I now find myself operating in this same manner, and fortunately, receive that same generosity back from those in my circle.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner and CEO OF Truly Organized Cleaning Services. I specialize in residential and commercial cleaning and organizing. I take pride is going above and beyond for all clients, often times, tailoring my services to their needs even if it falls outside of my wheelhouse. I’ve learned how to pivot and become resourceful to ensure that my clients receive the utmost care from my company. Though cleaning is my specialty, I have also grown to become a friend, voice of reason, and type of therapy for those who utilize my services.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The best qualities/skills that were the most impactful in my journey would be optimum customer service, ability to take constructive criticism, and strong confidence. All of these things have allowed me to be set apart from my competition because that tend to be rare in the industry. For others who are early in their journey, I recommend taking a strong grasp of your craft and building on it to ensure you have the confidence to succeed. I would follow that up with staying professional (customer service) and allowing your clientele to tell you where improvements can be made so that your business can properly grow.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
As an entrepreneur, being overwhelmed comes with the territory. I can say, honestly, that I had to learn to take time for myself and decompress. I am my best self when I am not pouring from an empty cup. Specifically, I recommend taking mental health days and getting adequate rest. Therefore, when those overwhelming moments present themselves, you are in the right headspace to handle them.
