Meet Laura Bektemirova

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laura Bektemirova. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laura below.

Hi Laura , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Since childhood, I’ve always been close to beauty. I loved makeup and nails from an early age — I would paint my own nails and experiment with makeup all the time. After I graduated from school, I got my first professional manicure, and from that moment on, I couldn’t stop. Nails became a part of my life.

Every time I visited my nail technician, I would carefully watch how she worked — how she created designs, how precise and artistic she was. I used to think, “I can do this too. I love this.” I always wore long nails with beautiful designs, and my technician would often tell me that this profession brings in good income. She could afford to travel, buy nice things, a car, an apartment — and that really inspired me. That’s when I seriously started thinking about doing nails professionally.

In my second year of university, I took my first nail course. But it wasn’t as easy as I had imagined from watching others — it was difficult, technical, and required a lot of practice. At first, I got discouraged and stopped. But I kept going to my nail appointments, watching, learning, and thinking — if she learned it, I can too.

Eventually, I gave it another try. My job at the time wasn’t bringing in enough income to cover my expenses, so I decided to do nails on the side to earn extra money. That’s when I started truly sharpening my skills and growing in this craft — and step by step, I found my purpose in it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Laura Bektemirova, and I am the owner of a nail studio in Beverly Hills.
I specialize in Russian dry manicures and have been working in this field for over 8 years. After moving to the United States, I opened my own little studio — a place where I bring beauty and precision to each client’s nails.

I work with a variety of clients, including public figures, designers, stylists, hairdressers, athletes, and influencers. My specialty is the Russian dry manicure — known for its ultra-clean cuticles, precise trimming, under-the-cuticle polish application, long-lasting results, and durable material that prevents breakage. Even if your nails have never grown well before, with my care and technique, they will start growing strong and healthy.

I use only high-quality products and single-use tools to ensure safety and hygiene. My goal is to help women in America feel confident and beautiful with well-groomed nails — because here, having beautiful hands is part of a polished appearance.

I see nails as a form of art. Doing nails is not just a job — it’s creativity, patience, attention to detail, and emotional intelligence. Working with people requires understanding — everyone has their own energy, their own vision, and their own expectations. As a nail artist, you must sense what each client wants: the shape, the length, the style. If a client leaves happy, they will always come back — and that’s the key to success.

Within my brand, I also design and sell my own professional nail files. I developed them to meet my own high standards — they’re effective, ergonomic, and made for perfect gel removal and surface smoothing. These are premium-quality files that I personally use every day in my studio and offer for sale to other professionals.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three most important qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge:
If I could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out, it would be this:
First, always strive to do clean and precise work. A neat, high-quality manicure should be your main goal from day one.
Second, patience and perseverance are absolutely essential. If you’re not patient, this profession will be very difficult for you.
Third, from the very beginning, focus on quality over quantity. Quality is what brings clients back. If your work is consistently excellent, you will always have loyal clients.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I would love to collaborate with nail brands — to work together, promote their page as well as my own Instagram page, create creative content, and help boost their sales. In return, I aim to continue improving my own skills and the quality of my work.
I’m open to new partnerships and collaborations, and excited about the opportunities they may bring.
