Meet Laura Jane Jones

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura Jane Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Laura Jane , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

My optimism ultimately comes from my upbringing in my family. i was raised with optimism. I was also raised to understand that dualities co-exist daily and probably will until the end of time. In other words where there is light, there is dark and vice versa. The live together side by side. Same idea with optimism. Optimism cannot exist without pessimism and vice versa. They are the yin and the yang. But ultimately i believe optimism is a choice. Just like pessimism is a choice. So ultimately i choose optimism. Though sometimes it is hard to choose that given whatever circumstances might be before you. The path forward is not always the line that you think it is, you get thrown a curveball and sometimes the “excercise” in that life moment is how do you dodge that curveball and keep going. Because you must keep going…..failure is not an option. Optimism is something my parents were and now ultimately how i choose to be live and exist in.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a vocal musician and own the Laura Jane International Vocal Studio and the Little Jane Gang LLC. I have been a vocalist, songwriter, producer, contractor in music for several years now, having recorded, performed or toured with some big names in music such as Enrique Iglesias, Aerosmith, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Fantastic Negrito, Katharine McPhee, Carrie Underwood, and Yolanda Adams to name a few. I own and run the Laura Jane international Vocal Studio which is one stop shop for all things related to artist development, including contracting of musicians, producers, vocal producing, arranging and even hiring PR Teams. I have clients globally and cover all genres and styles of music. The Little Jane Gang LLC is a new band project created for special events, private events covering all styles of music. I am also the co -owner and the co producer of the King Cole Legacy Experience which is a theatrical concert tribute to Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Gee!! This is a interesting question and i think with an obvious answer. I think the most important quality i have is that i am good at what i do. I say this because i am not sure you can assume that all the time with people! So that three qualities, skills or area of knowledge that i think have been the most impactful is BE EXCELLENT at what you are doing and offering, be ethical and do business with integrity, and i will add my final one which is i know how to communicate effectively with clients.

I think communication can make or break you at this point in business. Be articulate, be clear about the points you are trying to address, follow through in a timely fashion. Running a business you have to build trust and i think effective communication can either build trust or break it.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

There are always challenges…..always! Lately i have a series of disappointments with people, to be honest. I am giver, i love to help people, the optimist in me and the idealist in me sometimes can be misused and misentrepreted by people. Do you ever have a feelig that someone or people are underestimating you ? I have had that feeling the past 6 months or this year. Meanwhile, i am helping people, providing work for people and maintaining a standard of excellent and i think leading by example. Secretly people will want you to fail, but failure is not a option for me, and though some projects take off and do better than others, i dont’ really have a track record of straight up failure. I would love to inspire everyone but unfortunately i realize that that is not realistic. I still know that i continue to vibrate in the highest frequency i can…..i think that in it of itself bothers people.
