We were lucky to catch up with Laura Krusemark recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I’ve always been very sensitive to energy and the feelings of others around me, and felt how much being happy, joyful, or even just content made a difference in the space and also in the interactions between others. Because of this sensitivity, I intuitively understood how important it is to bring a positive attitude and energy even in challenging circumstances as they are ultimately for our highest good.
This way of being and looking at the world with a positive vision has brought many wonderful people, opportunities, and situations into my life. One of the 7 principles of the Hermetic texts states that “The Universe is Mental- Held in the Mind of the ALL which is very true in the sense of what we believe, we receive…the field of consciousness responds according to our truth, so we might as well make it the best possible one!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I currently live in Scottsdale, Arizona and work as a fine artist with my focus in oil painting, gold leaf, and watercolor. My hope is to capture the light, energy, spirit, and beauty of the world around me and bring it to life on canvas for others to enjoy. My inspiration comes from my travels and adventures in nature, the radiance of the human spirit, and also finding the deeper meaning and magic in the unseen worlds.
My art style blends elements of 13th-century Byzantine gold leaf work, the graceful lines of the Art Nouveau time period, the dreamlike beauty of the Pre-Raphaelite painters, and the spirit of Southwestern art inspired by the region I now live in.
At the moment in my studio, I’m creating a collection of oil paintings which I call the “Women of the Western Winds.” This collection of paintings is my way of honoring women of the past who played a vital role in shaping the American West—women from diverse cultures whose stories have often been overlooked or forgotten. Their strength, resilience, and quiet leadership deserve to be seen and remembered, much like the many brilliant female artists, leaders, and wise women throughout history whose contributions have been left in the shadows. Although these portraits are not of specific women, but rather of archetypes, my hope is that through painting them, they can be brought back into the light—giving them the recognition and respect they have always deserved.
I’m also a classically trained pianist and have performed for many private parties, weddings, and events in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and other parts of the US. I have two solo piano albums available worldwide and am currently am working on several original piano compositions for performance.
I believe that art, music, and other creative forms have the power to connect us deeper inwards to our eternal light and source, to stir our hearts, and ignite our imaginations. And so, I am honored to share my creations with you and the world in the hopes of bringing joy and beauty into the lives of all who experience them!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
There are so many wonderful skills and qualities that have been an important part of my journey, and so upon reflecting which have had the most impact in really helping me to stay balanced along my path, I have to say that Patience, Passion, and Persistence have been the super skills!
To have patience not only with others in life, but even more importantly with yourself is key. If you don’t have patience with yourself, it will most likely be hard to cultivate it with others. In every area of life, being able to take a deep breath, look at something from a higher perspective, or put yourself in someone else’s shoes is so helpful for keeping calm, seeking new ideas, bringing better focus and so much more. Whether you’re learning something new, having to re-work something, or dealing with challenges in life, patience is golden. And as Saint Augustine says “Patience is the companion of wisdom”. I agree!
Passion is another quality that has been very important in my journey, because without it, staying with something that brings many challenges along the way would be very difficult and even draining to the body, mind, and soul. If what you do or create is something your heart and soul desires (passion), then that deeper voice and desire within you will find a way through creative solutions to push through the difficulties.
Persistence is the flow through which patience and passion continue their progress. Having passion for what you do fuels both patience and persistence—and in turn, patience strengthens persistence…so they’re all tied together, without one the others don’t work well. And of course they all take dedication, discipline, and the desire to bring to life something new, inspiring, and unique.
I find spending time in nature and deeply observing the intelligent design and patterns helps with patience. You see how patient and persistent nature is in its’ seasons and cycles, the time it takes for a seedling to become a full tree, and in so many other ways. As for connecting to your passion, deep reflection and contemplation especially in nature brings you to your true north, your soul purpose. If you can do this often, you will find these skills becoming a part of you in a most beautiful way!

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I would bring my art and music talents together as well as collaborating with other creatives to build my dream vision of a healing garden / meditation dome space for all to enjoy freely. I envision it as a clear dome made with bio-geometric architecture beneficial to the Earth, where people can gather to connect to their inner selves and each other, surrounded by beautiful artwork projected on the dome space in moving and holographic forms as well and music to accompany. A “healing” garden would surround the dome with medicinal plants, bringing harmony and beauty to the body, mind, and soul.
My dream is to create one of these in as many communities world-wide as possible, bringing other artists and creatives together to build them with their unique visions!
