Meet Laura Licursi

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura Licursi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

Honestly, I think my self-discipline comes from always having a goal in mind. Whether it’s something personal or professional, I’m constantly working toward something, and that gives me a clear sense of direction. I don’t do well just floating through the day without a purpose—so having that goal keeps me grounded and focused.

I’m also a very structured person in my day-to-day life. I thrive on routines and systems, and I’ve built habits that help me stay on track even when motivation dips. I don’t rely on willpower alone—structure is what keeps things moving forward. I know what needs to get done, when it needs to get done, and I try to keep distractions to a minimum so I can follow through.

It’s not about being rigid, but about being intentional. I’ve learned over time that discipline gives me more freedom in the long run. When things are organized and handled, I feel more at ease and can actually enjoy the downtime without guilt.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At this point in my life, I’m really focused on three things: continuing to scale my business, prioritizing self-care, and soaking up as much family time as I can. I’ve built a company I’m incredibly proud of, and I genuinely enjoy the challenge that comes with entrepreneurship—whether it’s finding new ways to grow, expand our services, or even reinvent aspects of the business when things shift. That kind of constant evolution keeps it exciting.

What’s been just as important for me lately is taking care of my own well-being and mindset. I’ve learned that I show up better—for my business, my team, and my family—when I’m grounded and taking care of myself. It’s not always easy to find that balance, but it’s been a game-changer both personally and professionally.

Right now, we’re in a season of growth, and I’m excited about some of the new things we’re working on—especially services that help our clients feel less overwhelmed and more in control of their day-to-day. I’m a big believer in creating space for what matters most, and that’s a thread that runs through both my work and my life these days.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, there are definitely a few things that have been really impactful in my journey—personally and professionally. The first is my never-ending thirst for learning and growth. I’ve always had a “never stop learning” mentality, whether it’s reading, listening to podcasts, investing in coaching, or just staying curious. That mindset has kept me moving forward and open to new possibilities.

The second is clarity. You have to know what you want in order to get there. Every year I create a new vision board—not just for fun, but as a way to intentionally map out my goals. Then I break those goals down into actual action steps. It’s not just about dreaming big—it’s about doing the work to make those dreams real.

And the third is learning to trust myself. I used to push through everything at full speed, but I’ve learned to slow down before I speed up. Listening to my intuition has become a huge part of how I make decisions now, and that took years of practice. The more I’ve worked on myself, the more I’ve realized how connected personal and business growth really are—you can’t have one without the other.

For anyone just starting out, my advice would be to stay curious, get clear on what you actually want (not just what sounds good), and don’t underestimate the power of slowing down and checking in with yourself. That’s where the magic happens.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes, I absolutely love partnerships! Some of my best relationships—personally and professionally—have come from business collaborations. I really enjoy working with people who share similar goals and serve a similar audience. There’s so much power in teaming up with others who align with your vision and values.

Our target market includes attorneys, nonprofit leaders, and board members, so I’m especially interested in partnering with individuals or organizations who support or work alongside those groups. I’m looking to collaborate with people who value quality over quantity, who respect values over vanity metrics, and who are honest, kind, and genuinely good people.

If that sounds like you, I’d love to connect! You can reach out to me via email at laura@elitevirtualassist.com or connect with me on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lauralicursi/.
