Meet Laura Longmore

We were lucky to catch up with Laura Longmore recently and have shared our conversation below.

Laura, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I think my resilience comes from always keeping my eyes on the bigger picture. I tend to daydream a lot—about my life three, five, even ten years from now. That vision of where I want to be keeps me from getting stuck in past moments or feeling weighed down by temporary struggles. No matter what challenges I face, I remind myself that they’re just stepping stones, shaping me into a stronger, more resilient version of myself. I know that everything I overcome now will only make me better in the future.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As the CEO, founder, and designer of Unclad, I couldn’t be more excited for everything 2025 has in store. This year is all about bringing our vision to life—not just launching the brand, but truly building something bigger than fashion. We want Unclad to be more than just sustainable fashion; we’re creating a space for connection, creativity, and community.

We have so many exciting plans, from our launch event to fun, nostalgic gatherings where people can just come together, vibe, and take a break from the day-to-day. Sustainable fashion isn’t just about what we wear—it’s about the stories, the people, and the impact we make.

This year is also a big one for growth. Up until now, the day-to-day has been me and my intern, Victoria, making everything happen as a team of two. Juggling it all while working a 9-to-5 has been challenging—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Expanding our team is a huge step, and I’m beyond grateful to finally have more hands on deck as we take Unclad to the next level.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, there are three things that have made the biggest impact on my journey:

Keeping Your Circle Small
Who you let in—whether friends, collaborators, or mentors—can shape your path in ways you don’t even realize. The right people can uplift you, guide you, and make the journey feel like a vacation. The wrong ones? They can drain you, distract you, and take you somewhere that feels like a nightmare. Choosing wisely is everything.

Patience & Flexibility
Nothing ever goes exactly as planned. I used to be the person with sticky notes everywhere, planners filled to the brim, timelines mapped out to the minute—only for things to completely derail. And honestly? It used to stress me out, but over time, I’ve learned to loosen my grip. I still love my planners (I’m not giving those up just yet), but I try not to let structure become a cage. Some of the best things have happened when plans fell apart, like last year when we were juggling unemployment, events, photoshoots, and a flooded apartment that nearly ruined our only samples. You just have to roll with it.

Efficiency is Everything
When you’re wearing multiple hats, you don’t have time to waste. After leaving my 9-to-5, I try to work on my Unclad checklist, and there’s always something to get done. The only way I can manage it all is by figuring out the fastest, smartest way to get things done. Efficiency isn’t just about productivity—it’s what lets me actually check things off my list and feel like I’m making progress before I crash for the night.

For anyone just starting out—be mindful of who’s in your corner, embrace the chaos when things don’t go as planned, and always look for ways to work smarter, not harder.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

Right now, one of the biggest challenges I’m facing is learning how to balance being in a relationship while managing my business and working a 9-to-5. After three years of being single, I got so used to having all my free time to pour into Unclad—coming home from work and immediately diving in, spending my weekends working over every detail, and never really having to think about balancing my time in this way.

Now, I have someone in my life who matters to me, and that means I can’t just operate the way I used to. I have to be intentional about carving out time to be present, to communicate better, and to make space for both my relationship and my business. It’s not easy, and I’m still figuring it out every day. But I know that if I want to build both a successful brand and a meaningful relationship, I have to learn how to navigate this balance in a way that allows me to be fully present in both.
