Meet Laura Sylvester

We were lucky to catch up with Laura Sylvester recently and have shared our conversation below.

Laura, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

I developed and strengthened optimism in my life through the adversity I’ve suffered. I’ve battled over a decade with my mental health and faced many near death experiences. These situations I’ve encountered have helped me to see life, the world and other people through a whole new lens. I have greater empathy, compassion and sympathy for all. When you have truly been at rock bottom, but manage to escape that black hole, every inconvenience in life seems so minor in comparison. I practice gratitude daily, which has been a complete game changer for me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I believe self-love saved my life which is when I knew I wanted to bring this to as many women around the world in my lifetime as possible. I use a holistic approach and combine mind, body soul within my work as I believe the harmony is what creates the best quality of life. My heart-led mission is to guide women back home to themselves and their true essence beneath all the layers they have accumulated in life. To help them break free of limiting beliefs, people pleasing, playing it safe and keeping themselves small at the expense of their own happiness. I help them to find their spark, their power, to reclaim joy and learn to love and accept themselves from inside out so they can live life on their own terms with confidence.

As well as being a self-love and empowerment coach, I’m also a NLP Master Practitioner, Hypnotherapist, Timeline Therapy Practitioner; I write a monthly wellbeing column for a magazine, hold in person women’s circles, mini retreats and events, as well as have my very own, self published self-love journal.

There are many ways in which you can work with me as I tailor all my services to the individual and what they need.

The closest proximity programme I have is my 12 week, 1:1 VIP, Empowered Woman transformational programme, offering 7 days a week support in between our weekly 60 minute sessions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Passion & compassion – it’s important to be passionate about what you do, because without passion you’ll most likely give up when you come across any obstacle. As well as this, adopting a self-compassionate mindset and way of being is essential – when you’re patent and kind with yourself, when you prioritise time for your own wellbeing, this is what creates a strong foundation.

Intention – having intention in what you do and what you want to achieve is important. This is your ‘why’ – why you do what you do and why you want to do it. Rather than doing something because you think you should. Intention is about something being important to you, something you value and believe in. Something that has purpose.

Resilience – this is a game changer for when things get tough. Knowing that it’s okay to make mistakes and to learn from them – when we do this, we build greater internal strength and confidence.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Working with other coaches, connecting with other women, being open and vulnerable and putting myself out there to be heard and seen – in doing this I have been shown nothing but support. It can be scary to put yourself out there, but in doing so, you have nothing to lose, not doing leaves you with so much to lose, such as yourself, your confidence or your business.
We’re all human, no one is perfect, but we’re better and stronger together. I spend a lot of time on my own, but in recent years I have learnt the power of connection. The key is to be yourself because that’s when you connect with the right people, the ones that ‘get’ you and want to support you in all that you do.
