Meet Laura Valencia

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Laura Valencia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Laura, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
The best way I avoided burnout, was balancing modeling with music. At times it could be overwhelming with constant studio sessions, from writing to recording, getting each music project done. It’s refreshing changing my routine with a different form of outlet. The physicality of maintaining my self image is a completely different vibe.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Music has always been instilled in me since a youth, but I never imagined perusing it as a career. Everyone is a star in the shower, right? Lol. Coming from a church influenced background, choir played a big role in singing. Later in life, I found that passion again when I watched other artists I knew, do what they love most. I began gaining confidence modeling for fashion brands and slowly transitioned into music. My first cover song “Tu Lo Decidiste” by Ana Gabriel started gaining traction and made me realize I had what it takes to create original music. What a journey. The studio slowly became my home once I recorded my first single “Her” which drops January 3rd on all major platforms. Before I knew it, I had a whole project titled “Sorry for Your Loss” releasing in the fall of 2024. Modeling will always be there being that’s what gave me my platform, but I am so excited to show the world what I am capable of musically.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three most important things that were vital to my progression were tunnel vision, consistency, and quality. Keeping your eyes on your own path and never comparing what you do to what others are doing was the main reason I never lost focus. Making my craft a priority and staying consistent was an important quality I never lost sight of. Last but not least the quality of the product I release had to be top tier. There was never a moment I put less than 100% effort into anything I created.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I have to give a lot of credit to my manager and my label for being there from the beginning of my journey to now. I have learned a lot and have grown substantially with the amount of knowledge I am surrounded with.
