We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laurel Kassor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Laurel, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
Yeehaw, what a question. As a professional astrologer, my field faces a lot of scrutiny. Just this week, pop science author Adam Grant and the New York Times both released content punching down at astrology, implying that those of us who dedicate our lives to this work are delusional at best. Perhaps even you, dear reader, have placed astrology in the crosshairs of denial at some point.
It’s never fun to have your intelligence questioned by people who dismiss your craft without ever digging beneath the shallow topsoil of “pop astrology.” But these days, it’s actually quite easy for me to persist in the face of haters.
Why? Because after more than a decade immersed in the invisible currents of cosmic potential, my own perspective has evolved: astrology is not something you believe in; it’s something you live. It’s something you experience. It comes to life through you, whether or not you’re aware, informed, or “smart” enough to recognize the cycles at play.
Think of it like this: not speaking a language doesn’t mean the language doesn’t exist. Gravity is invisible, yet its effects are undeniable. And just because some people still insist the earth is flat doesn’t mean anyone’s sailing off the edge of the world.
The point is this: it’s easy to persist against naysayers when you’re deeply grounded in lived, empirical experience. Their mockery says more about them than it does about astrology. In fact, every time someone punches down at the world’s oldest interpretive system instead of getting curious, they reveal their own fear of mystery – and their resistance to expanding what we, as humans, still have to learn about the universe itself.

I’m Laurel Kassor, a Professional Astrologer and Cosmic Marketing Mentor to Spiritual Entrepreneurs. I help healers, lightworkers, and starseed practitioners connect the dots between their soul’s syllabus and the real-world struggles of running a business – from the discomfort of pricing, to shaky client boundaries, to getting at the heart of why marketing strategies can feel downright icky. My journey into astrology has been both traditional and wildly unconventional. For over a decade, I immersed myself in the classics, earned certifications, and practiced with rigor. But then, a few years into my professional career, something unexpected happened: I received what I can only describe as a cosmic download – a seismic shift that dismantled everything I thought I knew and demanded that I rebuild from the ground up.
That experience cracked open my understanding of astrology. I began to see that birth charts aren’t just personality sketches or cute horoscopes; they’re living curricula. They reveal our soul’s syllabus: the lessons we’re meant to face, the skills we’re here to refine, and the spiritual competencies that eventually shape our power, purpose, and even our prosperity.
From that insight, I developed Soul Arc Astrology, my signature methodology that bridges the mystical with the practical. It’s a system designed to help spiritual entrepreneurs and stop apologizing for their gifts and start owning them as their greatest asset. Through this work, I’ve seen clients transform self-doubt into clarity, fear into leadership, and “too woo” into thriving, soul-led businesses.
At the heart of it all, I’ve lived through every single pattern I now help others break. I’m proof that when you align with your Soul’s Arc, your magic stops being something you hide or explain away; it becomes the foundation of your business, your leadership, and the legacy you’re here to create.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Curiosity and a willingness to dive deep. Maybe it’s due to my neurodivergent mind, but early on, I realized that surface-level understanding wasn’t going to cut it. I had to immerse myself fully – not just in the mechanics of astrology, but in philosophy, psychology, mythology, and even quantum thought. This broad curiosity gave me the context to see patterns and make connections that others often miss – even the experts!
So my advice would be to stay curious!!! Don’t be afraid to explore beyond your comfort zone – it’s really the only way to carve out your own unique space! Read widely, ask questions, and allow yourself to follow tangents that seem “unrelated” at first – those threads often lead to breakthroughs.
2. Discipline and consistency. Information alone isn’t transformative; you have to practice, reflect, and integrate it over time. Years of consistent study, chart work, and real-world application helped me internalize what I learned so that it became part of my intuition and decision-making. I literally live and breathe the work I do, and never skip an opportunity to connect the dots as they pop up in front of me.
Integrating your craft (or at least the frameworks of your craft) into every corner of life is a quick ticket to exploring the nooks and crannies others may miss! Even small, consistent actions compound over time. Don’t wait until everything feels perfect — just show up for the work consistently.
3. Courage to trust my own perspective. This is a BIG ONE! There were logical fallacies I questioned for decades within the frameworks I loved that no one had satisfactory answers for and would brush off as “that’s just how it is.” Well, at some point, I had to stop relying solely on what others said was “right” and start trusting the insights I was receiving through experience, intuition, and experimentation. That courage to trust myself allowed me to develop Soul Arc Astrology and my own unique and highly empirical approach.
One of the many things I invite my clients and audience to do is give yourself permission to explore your own perspective. Even if it feels contrarian! Remember and recognize that progress in any craft or field does not come without disruptors who see things differently. Document your insights, test them in real life, and don’t be afraid to break the rules of tradition if it serves a higher understanding. Your unique lens is your greatest asset.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My soul-mate client is a hidden-gem healer or spiritual entrepreneur, the kind of person who’s already talented, intuitive, and fiercely capable, but who’s secretly haunted by thoughts like “Will anyone actually pay for this?” or “Am I really enough?” They’re not delusional or destined to fail. They’ve already got the magic. They just haven’t fully unleashed it yet.
The people I work with are bold, curious, and ready to claim what’s theirs. They’re open to astrology, intuition, and unconventional strategies to uncover the patterns that have been shaping their lives and to turn those patterns into tangible business breakthroughs. With me, they take all that lived experience, all those “impractical” gifts, and all the lessons forged through struggle, and channel it into a business that actually works, financially, energetically, and spiritually.
These dream seekers know they’re sensitive, cyclical, or unconventional and they embrace it because that’s their superpower.
