Meet Lauren Alleyne

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Alleyne a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lauren, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from knowing that my thoughts create my reality, and that thinking negatively will lead me in the complete opposite direction of where I want to go. I always remind myself that the possibilities in this life are endless, and to dream big is more rewarding than limiting myself to negativity and self-doubt. I also only surround myself with positive, supportive, uplifting people. I believe your circle has a huge influence on your mindset.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I started Lauren Alleyne Jewelry in 2012, handcrafting ‘bohemian glam’ statement jewelry using natural stones, crystals, and geodes. I love creating unique pieces that make the wearer feel bold, confident and unique; like walking art! My favorite thing about making jewelry is being able to connect to, and share my passion with people from all over the world. I recently launced my fall collection and pretty soon I’ll be getting ready for the holiday rush!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Courage, tenacity, and self-motivation are three qualities that are important to develop. If you really want to do something, you must have the courage to take risks and put yourself out there. You will never know what may happen until you try and for me, having regret for not doing something is worse than failure.
It’s also important to not give up when you encounter setbacks. Use those setbacks as learning lessons and opportunities for growth. If you truly love what you do, you will keep pursuing your goals throughout the highs and lows.
Lastly, being able to motivate yourself is one of the most important qualities you can have. You can’t wait for someone else to tell you what to do or give you “permission” to follow your dreams.  If you want to achieve great things, you have to want it for yourself and work toward it for your own satisfaction.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The number one challenge I am currently facing is learning to set boundaries for myself. I need to take time to enjoy the little things in life and relax a little instead of just work, work, work. The line between my work life and personal life is a little blurred, so I need to separate the two. I’m also an extreme night owl so a healthy sleep schedule is definitely something I need to work on!
