Meet Lauren Green

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Green. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Lauren, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I’ve always had a deep love for animals. Growing up, I was the go-to person in my neighborhood for caring for the strays. It felt natural, and I genuinely enjoyed being around them. Over time, I realized how fulfilling it was to create a safe and loving environment for pets, and I kept thinking, ‘What if I could turn this into something bigger?’ That moment came when I saw the growing need for high-quality pet care services in my area, and I knew I could fill that gap. I started researching the industry, shadowing pet care professionals, and learning what it takes to build a business that truly puts pets and their owners first. Eventually, I took the leap, leaving my full-time job to focus on creating Premier Pawz Inn and Suites. Finding my purpose has been incredibly rewarding. Not only do I get to make pets and their owners happy every day, but I also feel proud to have created a business that reflects my values and passions. It’s a reminder that when you follow your heart and take risks, amazing things can happen.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At Premier Pawz Inn and Suites, LLC, I provide a full range of pet care services, including boarding, doggie daycare, transportation, exit baths, and individual playtime. What excites me most about this work is creating a second home for pets where they feel loved, safe, and cared for while their owners are away. I strive to make every pet’s stay as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, giving their families peace of mind.

What I believe sets Premier Pawz apart is the personalized attention we provide to each pet. Whether it’s tailoring playtime to match their personality, ensuring their comfort in our suites, or planning to expand into grooming services soon, my mission is to treat every pet like family.

This isn’t just a business to me—it’s my passion and purpose. I left my full-time job to turn this dream into reality, and every day I’m reminded of how meaningful this work is. Seeing wagging tails, happy purrs, and grateful owners keeps me motivated to grow and innovate.

I want everyone to know that Premier Pawz is more than just a pet care service—it’s a place where pets experience love, joy, and care as if they were our own. I’m deeply committed to raising the standard of pet care in our community and making a lasting impact on the lives of pets and their families.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities or skills that were most impactful in my journey were passion, resilience, and a willingness to learn.

1. Passion:
My love for animals is at the heart of everything I do. It gave me the drive to leave my full-time job and start Premier Pawz. Passion is the fuel that keeps you going, even when things get challenging.
Advice: Find what truly excites you and keeps you motivated. It’s not just about what you’re good at but what makes you feel fulfilled and purposeful.

2. Resilience:
Starting a business comes with its share of challenges—long hours, uncertainty, and sometimes even self-doubt. Resilience helped me push through those tough times and stay focused on my vision.
Advice: Building resilience is about embracing setbacks as opportunities to grow. Surround yourself with supportive people, celebrate small wins, and remind yourself why you started when things feel overwhelming.

3. Willingness to Learn:
I had to dive deep into learning about the pet care industry, business management, and customer service. The willingness to constantly improve and adapt was critical to my success.
Advice: Never stop learning. Take courses, seek out mentors, and be open to feedback. Even if you don’t know everything at first, you can learn as you go—and that’s perfectly okay.

For those starting their journey, my advice is simple: Stay true to your passion, don’t fear the bumps in the road, and always be curious and open to growth. With those qualities, you can navigate any challenge and turn your dreams into reality.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I believe it’s important to lean into your strengths while being aware of your weaknesses. Your strengths are what make you unique, and they’re often the driving force behind your success. At the same time, acknowledging areas where you’re not as strong and either improving them or delegating those tasks can create balance and prevent burnout.

When I started Premier Pawz Inn and Suites, I went all in on my strengths—my passion for animals, my ability to connect with pet owners, and my vision for creating a safe, loving environment for pets. These qualities gave my business a strong foundation. However, I also realized there were areas where I needed growth, like business management, marketing, and logistics. Instead of letting those gaps hold me back, I took online courses, sought advice from mentors, and leveraged tools to streamline my operations.

One example was when I struggled with the financial side of the business—budgeting, bookkeeping, and taxes weren’t my strong suit. Rather than forcing myself to become an expert in everything, I invested in professional help to manage those areas while I focused on what I do best: caring for pets and creating an exceptional experience for my clients.

For me, the balance comes down to this: play to your strengths to build momentum and confidence, but don’t ignore your weaknesses. Either work on improving the areas that are critical to your goals or find support from those who excel where you don’t.

My advice for others is to embrace what makes you unique and let that guide your journey. If you spend too much time trying to fix every weakness, you risk diluting the energy you could use to shine in what you do best. Focus on growth, but let your strengths lead the way.
