We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauren Piemont Clamp. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauren below.
Lauren, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
It takes time to find your purpose, but more than that, it takes living. I didn’t begin to discover my purpose until I started putting myself out there.
I have been an art writer for a number of years and I studied art history in college. My degree is in art history and I’ve always loved journalism–both writing and consuming it–so “art writer” was a natural career choice for me alongside my day job at an art gallery. I loved writing for art magazines and websites but I felt restricted by my editors. My interests and tastes didn’t often line up with what editors wanted to publish. I favor classic beauty but overtly political, experimental and generally trendy art is what gets media coverage more than anything else these days.
Eventually, I’d had enough and in 2024, I started a Substack where I could talk about any kind of art I wanted on my own terms. The Substack is called Chouette. Chouette is a French word that means cool, but it’s not a cool word. It’s outdated and similar to using swell or neat in English. I thought this was the perfect title under which to write about art that isn’t trendy. I did this for several months and built a small audience of family, friends and colleagues.
After a while, I started wanting to incorporate my other interests into my Substack. I’m deeply immersed in the art world, but I am also deeply immersed in the natural wellness world. I wanted to make room for wellness on my Substack, but I wasn’t sure if it meshed with art. If my audience was wanting to read about Renaissance painting, would they necessarily want to read about clean makeup, DIY salad dressing, organic farming or whatever wellness topic I might want to dive into? I wasn’t sure but I was willing to try it.
In meshing these two subjects– art and wellness–I ended up unearthing my purpose. What is that purpose? Showcasing and exploring classic beauty in spite of trends. This can look like highlighting classic art or teaching people how to practice clean living. It can also encompass religion and lifestyle. Basically, it’s all about tuning out the noise of the world and honing in on what rings true.
With my true purpose revealed, I kept at my Substack and also brought the same content to my Instagram. This eventually led me to YouTube, which is where most of my efforts go right now. I started reviewing wellness products on YouTube and enjoyed making longer form video content. Lately, my YouTube has evolved even further as an added layer to my purpose has emerged…
My husband and I are expecting our first child! He is due in October of 2025 and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Becoming a mother has added deeper meaning to my life and it has also further sharpened my purpose. I want to provide and model a beautiful, love-filled life for my son, and I also want to share the journey. I started a Pregnancy Diary series on my YouTube channel where I share every step of my pregnancy as I navigate it from a holistic perspective. I hope to educate and inspire other expecting moms who are looking to do the same. I’ve really enjoyed creating this series and I plan to continue making mom content as my son grows up alongside natural wellness and art.
Finding my purpose has taken time, but there are universal truths to it that can help others. My faith shows me that my purpose is to love and serve God, and I think the best way for any of us to do that is to live our lives fully. True beauty lights me up, no matter what form it comes in, so my purpose must be to share it far and wide. If you’re searching for your own purpose in life, I recommend you look to what lights you up. Share of it generously and you’ll always be fulfilled.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a writer and content creator, focusing on fine art and natural wellness. You can find my content on my Instagram, Substack and YouTube channel.
Lately, I’ve been hyper-focused on YouTube as I document my first pregnancy from a holistic perspective. Be on the lookout for the revival of my Substack and be sure to check out my Instagram for real-time updates, slices of life and to simply get to know me better.
I love sharing the beauty of this world as it manifests through classic art, natural wellness and my daily life. As I get ready to become a mom, I am struck by the beauty of creating human life and I am deeply inspired to share about that, too. There’s so much content out there competing for our attention, but I believe the most interesting kind (as well as the most fun to make) comes from real life. This life is beautiful. Don’t be afraid to romanticize it or share it from your unique perspective.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say that good writing skills, deep knowledge of art and a hunger to learn about natural wellness have impacted my journey the most.
None of this would be possible if I struggled with writing. If you want to write professionally or even make content at all, I suggest writing constantly. It was easy for me to do that when I was in school, taking classes and writing for my college newspaper. I also had a Tumblr I regularly wrote on back then, but when I graduated, I had to create more opportunities for myself. Before I published articles and essays or contributed to books, I journaled frequently to keep my writing skills sharp. This helped me write both well and with efficiency when I was working on important pieces later on. Now, it comes so easily to me and I am grateful for that. It would take me ages to do what I do if I were rusty at writing.
I mentioned my degree is in art history, but my love of art and interest in it has been with me my entire life. I loved making art as a young girl and members of my family shared and supported my interest in art. It’s always been all around me and this has helped me to stay immersed in the art world. Thinking about art is like breathing to me, which has helped me stay true to what I love rather than chasing or pandering to trends.
My passion for natural wellness has also led me to incredible places. I first got into it in high school out of an interest in sustainability. That was many years ago, and my knowledge has evolved and deepened over this time. I’m able to continue to learn a lot about wellness because I do a lot of research. Whether I want solutions to my own health issues and questions or I’m just curious about trending ideas, I make it my mission to learn as much as possible. I read extensively and surround myself with natural wellness’s leading voices. I also get involved in like-minded communities online and in real life. I will always be learning, but I do know enough to begin to share my own experience. This is what I love to do on all my social platforms. I figure I should pay forward all of this information I have and I find that people are hungry for it just like I have been.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I credit my late mother with instilling a love of the arts in me and always encouraging me to work hard and live with integrity. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the strong values she instilled in me.
Now, my husband, Chris Clamp, is my rock who inspires me to keep going while cheering me on. He models hard work and integrity for me each day and is always willing to help me work through roadblocks. He’s also taught me a lot about video editing, which has been great for developing my YouTube channel. I can go to him for great advice and deep discussions about art any time. I couldn’t do all that I do without his love and support.
