Meet Lauren Rao

We recently connected with Lauren Rao and have shared our conversation below.

Lauren, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I have always been a natural leader from being a captain on my sports teams or leading events in college I quickly found my role. After College It took me a while to discover how to translate my strengths. At 23 I had the opportunity to run a new wedding venue. Though I had little experience I works 80 plus hour weeks to perfect my craft. I am 100% a people person and love to make someone’s day in any way. After my role working as a coordinator with the venue I knew this was for me. From being prompt, well planned and to be honest my OCD eye for the chair or fork out of place, i excelled. What really makes me feel like this is my purpose though is the look on my couples face when they are enjoying the best day of their lives, knowing i was able to help guide them.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an artist at heart, heck it’s my minor from school and weddings I absolutely use this. Most of my clients I am crafting a vision with them and making it come to life. I focus my business on being people focused, authentic and artistic. I adore the highly detailed custom touches and unique locations. I personal am a travel enthusiast and even travel to locations with my couples to and source out locations like national park and even abroad to locations like Italy! Any way i can combine my love for art and travel i am ALL in!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
There are many qualities to wedding planning or content creating but the three that really stick out to me are promptness, attention to detail and kindness. I lead my business with authentic kindness and a good attitude. The days I work are VERY long days though I wouldn’t change it. I know how much a mood can affect a room and if you show up ready and willing to be a team player it makes a world of difference. The best advice I would have is keep try and pushing for what you truly want. Take the time to make real connections and keep finding how to be better even on your best days!

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
This one is a little emotional for me. My grandmother who has recently passed was my absolute world. She whole heartedly believed in me when I decided to not move forward with using my degree. I took a whole life change which was terrifying but she was there with me every step of the way. After each wedding we would debrief and I would show her how it went. The unconditional love and support from her when other didn’t have faith was what really gave me strength to purse what I love.
